This is well out of my bubblel, but it's the first time I see this type of spam. Can you tell if this is a native-speaking spammer, or someone likely using a translation service?

I had an exact spam wave like this a few months ago..

I'm assuming this is Chinese? Most spam that I receive is either in English, or using Cyrillic.

The amount of people doing this kind of spam (abusive, as opposed to commercial) seems to be limited to a few. I'm wondering if this is a new person, or someone that is using a Translation service.

You can try to use gajim's console to filter presence stanzas and regex them? so you can gather a list of jids to report to the server operator ✏

The receiver is a Room Moderator for political use, someone fool is not happy because they is denied. The comrade is lazy to learn XEP-0016 even I have reminded many times, but this event taught them.

Guus，I am not a real user of Spark IM or Openfire, please do not think I am expressing unsatisfied to you. On the contrary, Openfire supports XEP-0016, I never be angry to you.

I have no problem at all with the reporting of spam. I am only annoyed by the many references to XEP-0016.

Guus, will you be mad if more users report more spammers without mentioning XEP-0016? Will you try to tell them >“Just don't have JIDs public?” like MattJ has done or will you try to tell them “accept the risk of being spammed or being faked” or “do not be personal famous in XMPP world”. ✏

I have half-promised that we will make XMPP users ×10 and they are happy with that definitely. In the meanwhile definitely they should know there would be more spammers too.

That is a different discussion - one that I will not get into now. I am calling out that I notice and am annoyed that you keep stressing your desire to have XEP-0016, even after your intended audience has already given you their response. You do not agree with them, which is fine, but that is not a reason to keep pestering people. There are various ways for you to get XEP-0016. The worst way for you to get what you want is to continue to annoy the same people (and as a byproduct: many other people) from which you want something.

Was there some Chinese (or others) users request you to add XEP-0016 so you were bothered? And that is why you are annoyed when seeing that specification number? If that is ture, I can take half of Chinese users (or at least 30%) to leave XMPP.

I think can not do that, and I think our user manual maintainers will not write that too, they can not add too much technical details or the manual becomes a developer manual and more complex with more pages. That is more complex than something which can block them. After spammers find that they are blocked even before sending a message, they will stop registering and spamming surely. ✏

I though Mike is missunderstandig. This is the XMPP-Server-Operator-MUC. The Operator had to generate the regex, the spammer list and could offer it to Holger The "normal" user never should have to generate s.th. like this, because this in responsible to the serveradmin.
