  1. Guus

Is someone familiar with strongjabber.cc? Are the admins here? What server software are they using?

  2. Link Mauve

Guus, seems to be Prosody version 0.11.13 on Linux, according to XEP-0092.

  3. Guus

Hmm, that's not even that old, is it?

  4. Guus

As the initiating entity in S2S, I'm not getting a streamID value on one of their <stream:stream>'s, it appears.

  5. Link Mauve

Seems like Ubuntu 22.04, so almost two years old.

  6. Guus

I ment Prosody. "2022-01-24: Prosody 0.11.13 has been released"

  7. jonas’

    just nearly two years

  8. Link Mauve

The 0.12 branch improved many many things.

  9. Link Mauve

The 0.11 branch was from 2018, and only got bugfixes since.

  10. MattJ

    https://hg.prosody.im/trunk/rev/ebbf8dca33d2 - 0.12 has this commit, 0.11 does not

  11. MattJ

It only happens in the error case

  12. MattJ

Most likely you provided an invalid 'to' or 'from' to get there

  13. MattJ

Which includes if the 'to' or 'from' differ from the *initial* stream header after a restart

  14. Guus

ah, some kind of error case is probably why I see this with only one remote peer

  15. Guus

Do I read that patch correctly that the fix is to add a blank stream-ID?

  16. MattJ

    Yes

  17. MattJ

Basically the incoming stream header fails validation, and Prosody refuses to continue with the stream, it doesn't even get assigned an id

  18. Guus

If this is indeed what's causing the errors on my end, then that prevents Openfire from parsing the error, I think - as it misses the ID on the stream element in which the error will be embedded.

  19. Guus

AH! We're aborting an attempt to create an outgoing s2s connection to that domain, 90 seconds before that error is logged. I bet we do not close the socket, and Prosody has a ~90 second timeout on inbound connection attempts?

  20. MattJ

    It's very possible

ARIN's v6 policies make deploying ipv6 cost prohibitive for small isps, hobbyists, and individuals

  36. nuegia.net

and ripe doesn't serve the north american continent

  37. nuegia.net

it sucks and i'm actively looking for an alternative
