  1. ErjanE

Hi group, i just joined yax.im server and have couple of questions, anybody here from yaxim or has any yaxim experience ⁉️

  2. MattJ

ErjanE, yep. If it is yaxim-specific, there is also a chat at xmpp:yaxim@chat.yax.im?join

  3. ErjanE

    Thanks 👍🏻

  4. Arya Kiran

is anyone here running ejabberd inside docker?

  5. Arya Kiran

was thinking of migrating my instance to docker, so wanted to know if theres anything to check for and/or if it has any major issues

  6. Licaon_Kter

    But why?

  7. MattJ

In case you don't get a response here, note that there is also an ejabberd channel at ejabberd@conference.process-one.net

  8. Licaon_Kter slaps MattJ with a small trout, "that's how you format MUC links you n00b?"

  9. MattJ

I checked, Arya is using Gajim, and I don't know if Gajim supports xmpp: links inline, so I didn't take the risk :)

  10. chunk

    LOL

  11. chunk

    it does

  12. Arya Kiran

    > * Licaon_Kter slaps MattJ with a small trout, "that's how you format MUC links you n00b?" :P true

  13. Licaon_Kter

MattJ: Gajim is pretty new to be fair...

  14. Arya Kiran

    > But why? most of the other services I have on my server are already dockerized so it will be easier to manage for me if xmpp is as well

  15. Licaon_Kter

    Right

  16. chunk

I got mad at docker the other day trying to make a gitea container...

  17. Arya Kiran

gitea docker is kinda weird to be fair

  18. Licaon_Kter

    Use podman instead?

  19. Menel

Bare metal, "containerize" by using systemd security features

  20. shaarad

    > I got mad at docker the other day trying to make a gitea container... chunk: 'make' as in build the container image or run the container?

  21. chunk

yes, with docker compose, using the documentation

  22. chunk

    > Bare metal, "containerize" by using systemd security features +1

  23. moparisthebest

Arya Kiran: I second the podman instead of docker recommendation, it's basically a drop in replacement but works and integrates better imho

  24. Arya Kiran

    true

  25. Martin

Not really a drop in replacement in my experience. The only docker thing I use is jitsi-meet and it doesn't work in potman.

  27. moparisthebest

The only problems I've ever had with it not being compatible is when people do strange things with docker-compose

  28. chunk

    I don't like docker anymore

  29. Martin

Jitsi-meet probably does. They always do strange things.

  30. Martin

Before I used the container they just overwrote my turn config in an update.
