infomercial: For those of you that would like to have your domain added to https://xmppnetwork.goodbytes.im/ but have difficulties hosting a publicly accessible (DNS/TLS) pubsub service yourself (to publish the required data on): I believe that I've now figured out a way for me to do that for you.

  3. Guus

Polarian: jump through manual hoops on the XMPP server that is running xmppnetwork.goodbytes.im

  4. Guus

your server would need to be configured to publish to a node on our server.

  5. Polarian

    hmm

  6. Polarian

surely it could become a BOSH endpoint?

  7. Polarian

wouldn't that be simplier than pubsub

  8. Polarian

Not all XMPP servers enable pubsub, but almost all have BOSH

  9. Polarian

although I guess pubsub has become very popular so its a non-issue

  10. Guus

BOSH is an XMPP connectivity method. I think you are referring to a simple web service? That's what the original implementation by Thomas had - we opted with something that uses the XMPP protocol natively (and could be re-used for other information)

That's what the original implementation by Thomas had - we opted with something that uses the XMPP protocol natively (and could be re-used for other information) yes I do mean the simple web service apologies

  12. Polarian

but I see no reason an xml stream cant be used... instead of a web api

  13. Guus

Well, we now have this inefficient protocol that is seeing quite a bit of adoption. You can try to come up with an alternative, but I fear that that boat has sailed.

  15. Polarian

Although I like the XMPP graph :)
