we need a better centralized server than C.im

Best no centralized server. But until now it had an extremely good uptime. Now it seems like a big bad luck, with two ssds breaking after the whole upgrade, on a Sunday

i suggest xmpp.gtk.ge because it satisfies all the requirements: 1. is owned by me

also gtk.ge has a bigger uptime than C.im

Makes me laugh every time though, a server like conversations has perfect uptime for near a decade, and problems over 1 weekend and people are already "we need something better" 🤣 chill out

Don't get me wrong I'm very glad great big servers like conversations exist to get people hooked, but the end goal should be everyone on a tiny server ran by themselves or someone they know

The solution is to make a good client with a bundled xmpp server that runs through tor so we add everyone via onion urls.

And so that you can't send messages when one of you is offline? 🙂

Without the tongue in cheek, I guess I mean to say that such systems do already exist

I've always been glad that they exist, but also that XMPP fulfils a different set of requirements
