I think the providers list only recognises unrestricted in-band registration.

looking at disroot which has open registration that seems correct yeah

  5. MSavoritias (fae,ve)

    and providers say they dont

I tested the in-band registration (XEP-0077) and confirmed that it's working correctly, as the website offers registration. I'm unsure what the issue might be.

    badmuff: https://providers.xmpp.net/contact/

  9. Holger

    I'd ask them directly.

  10. badmuff

    Holger: thanx, i do.

ha I was about to send the same link. Yes please, for things related providers.xmpp.net please use their contact addresses, because they don't have permission to speak here right now under the new rules. We're considering ways to fix that in a proper process.

  12. Polarian

I'm being targeted in channels... somehow the same spammer knows what channels I'm in, that's impossible!

  13. MattJ

It's not hard if they are publicly listed

  14. Polarian

chat.cluxia.eu keeps getting hit to spam ping me... I doubt there's anything that can be done, but any ideas?

  15. Polarian

apart from new jid new username?

  16. MattJ

    Pinged the admin

  17. Polarian

    > It's not hard if they are publicly listed hmmm... if you keep the same username every channel I assume? but that means they are crawling channels... idk what I even did...

  18. Polarian

    > Pinged the admin of the channel? yeah he's dealt with this MANY times now... its every few days... I'm asking if there is any ideas on the problem :)

  19. MattJ

You don't need to have done anything, they just enjoy harassing people unfortunately

  20. MattJ

No, the admin of the server

  21. Polarian

I believe its anonym.im again, can't verify I'm not a admin in the channel... but this spammer loves anonym.im, I forgot who the admin is in this channel. Pep owns the channel, and I believe they are one of the blocklist folks so the JID won't last long...

  22. Polarian

it was yax.im and its been blocklisted. Maybe I should randomise my username for a while?

Polarian: You're unlikely to win an arms race, and more likely to make the 'hunt' more interesting to them. If at all feasible, I'd ignore them as much as possible. Any action from your end could be interpreted as a 'win' by them, which only motivates them to keep going.

I could leave the MUCs they know I'm in for a while... then they won't get their kicks and get bored.

  25. Guus

Polarian: maybe talk it over with the admins of the affected servers (as they're dealing with the after effects), but I don't think there's a lot you can do.

  26. Guus

Even you leaving could be a validation of their actions. Idk
