    Hello fellow XMPP operators!

  5. jonas’

    o/

  6. f_

jonas’: Hi! \o it looks like yesterday a new XMPP server was born :)

  7. f_

    runxiyu[x]: hey hi!

  8. f_

You can't talk in here just yet - you need to configure some stuff in your xmpp server before authbot lets you talk

  9. f_

    One sec...

  10. f_

    You need this https://compliance.conversations.im/test/abuse-contact/

  13. f_

runxiyu[x]: see https://prosody.im/doc/modules/mod_server_contact_info once you get it working authbot will change your affiliation to "member" and you'll be able to talk

  14. f_

    jonas’: Ouch.

  15. runxiyu[x]

    Thanks!

  16. f_

runxiyu[x]: There you are :) welcome!

  17. jonas’

    o/

  18. f_

jonas’: That's the new server I was talking about =)

  19. f_

runxiyu[x]: be sure to read the channel guidelines BTW

  20. runxiyu[x]

I don't see it in the topic ...

  22. runxiyu[x]

I'm really new to XMPP in general so I'd appreciate any help there

  23. runxiyu[x]

    Ah thanks

  24. f_

Consider joining the other channels listed - https://xmpp.org/community/chat/

  25. f_

    There's a semi-official (I guess?) #XMPP channel over on libera, too.

  26. f_

And finally, joinjabber.org hosts some support channels you may find very useful.

  27. runxiyu[x]

For the most part I prefer IRC for group chats and (start to) prefer XMPP for private chats

  28. f_

    Have fun!

    > worlio.com has been banned for ad-hominem attacks and bad-faith discussion Yeah no I'm leaving. Apparently equal enforcement and having a mature argument are both concepts foreign to this chat.

  33. Polarian

Hello... I have a question about XSF's view on XMPP providers which use their position to fund violence and rioting... would this violate their terms?

  35. MSavoritias (fae,ve)

    1. this is for xsf not providers 2. this is without context and phrased in a way to delibaretily incite anger and flamewars. so this is not in good faith in general

  36. MSavoritias (fae,ve)

    1. this is for xsf not operators room 2. this is without context and phrased in a way to delibaretily incite anger and flamewars. so this is not in good faith in general

  37. MSavoritias (fae,ve)

this is not how we should approach discussions

  38. Polarian

    > 1. this is for xsf not operators room > 2. this is without context and phrased in a way to delibaretily incite anger and flamewars. so this is not in good faith in general XSF guidelines cover this room...

  39. Polarian

This might be the operators, but the guidelines still cover it

  40. MSavoritias (fae,ve)

    sure. but its still offtopic

  41. Polarian

or thats what I understood from what jonas said a while back

  42. Polarian

    > sure. but its still offtopic It is not... and I would not like to elaborate otherwise it COULD cause offense

  43. Guus

The XSF's policies (in particular the code of conduct) applies to anyone who: - Acts in a capacity which could reasonably be expected to be acting on behalf of the XMPP Standards Foundation or the wider XMPP Community. - Participates in any XSF Activity. Running XMPP server software in itself does not qualify.

  44. Polarian

Being in this channel does count though, does it not?

  45. Guus

These are the guidelines that apply to this channel: https://xmpp.org/community/channels/operators/

  46. Polarian

    hm thanks

  47. Guus

There is this note in that text: > The CoC only applies to XMPP Standards Foundation (XSF) members and venues. It does not automatically apply to all members of all XMPP channels. [...]

  48. nuegia.net

    Polarian, this is offtopic

  49. roughnecks

is this ok? ``` ;; flags: qr aa rd ra; QUERY: 1, ANSWER: 0, AUTHORITY: 0, ADDITIONAL: 1 ;; OPT PSEUDOSECTION: ; EDNS: version: 0, flags:; udp: 65494 ;; QUESTION SECTION: ;magicbroccoli.de. IN AAAA ``` their own "xmpp-chatbot" which I'm running fails on querying it

  50. roughnecks

`roughnecks: Server-to-server connection failed: ServFail in AAAA lookup. !uptime magicbroccoli.de resulted in: remote-server-not-found`

  51. roughnecks

I mean, is it a misconfiguration or really no IPv6 and the bot doesn't try for v4?
