so something I learned the hard way, Not all ethernet controllers are created equal!

SOME, like ethernet GMII/gbics that are controlled with the axen driver may establish a media link at 1000baseT, but only be able to push or receive 99 megabits

terrible, absolutely terrible

also they brick themselves until you reboot if you try to trunk axen devices together

also a lot of mikrotik switches suck. They claim hardware offload but not if you use lacp or mstp or things you might actually pay for a real switch for

also interesting, I updated the firmware on a router that used to max out at 200 megabits inter-vlan routing. I'm guessing they fixed hardware offloading or something finnally because it's able to push 900+ megabits of intervlan routing again

these switches can do LACP right?

nuegia.net, probably they were installed in many places who now upgrade to 10GbE (maybe small datacenters) and so they end up really cheap on ebay?

And the 7250 went eol a few months back The others there went eol like two years ago

The 7250 is still a fantastic switch, the 6610 is much more capable connectivity wise but has very high power draw

My 6610 draws 120w seemingly regardless of how many PoE devices it's powering /shrug
