⚠️ Due to a change in CA policies mandated by Google, Let's Encrypt (and others) will switch to issuing certificates that do not have the TLS "clientauth" purpose. This will break some servers, notably ejabberd versions before 25.08. If you are running ejabberd, make sure it is updated to 25.08 or later, before 11th February 2026: https://letsencrypt.org/2025/05/14/ending-tls-client-authentication

If you don't update, it is likely that your server will have problems federating with other servers on the network after that date

also while you are messing with your cert renewal keep in mind Google also announced by 2028 certs will only have a 45 day expiry instead of the current 90 so maybe check your acme client runs often enough

and pray lord ~vader~ Google doesn't alter the deal further

I hope we'll have rid ourselves off Google by 2028.

    > I don't see any indication of that happening, did I miss something? Let's just say: Politics have become unpredictable and chaotic and who know what'll be in a couple years. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I'm moving the backend of https://connect.xmpp.net/ to another server. There might be short interruptions, but ideally not :)

    > I don't see any indication of that happening, did I miss something? closest indicator has been the AI bubble, and now even that they've mastered
