XMPP Service Operators - 2026-06-09

for an muc that's not hosted on my server, but I am an admin in, is there a way or a client that would let me sort participants by how long they've been in the room or maybe even the last time they said something and hopefully grant voice in a batch? The room is currently set to moderated, but now it's dead in there other than me getting requests for voice all day long. Otherwise, any anti-spam tools you'd recommend? ✏

I dont think there is without some kinda server access, im currently toying with the idea of adding a modbot to the ever growing list of todo items though

i really could use an advanced mass message moderation, and the other features like that shouldnt be too hard to add in

now that im thinking about it, in theory you could just store a lot of those statistics in a db and then generate a csv/tsv that can be opened in your favorite office application

that's true.... I do have a decrypted copy of my monocles db on my laptop. still don't have a way to mass grant voice tho afaik

you will need to account for your timezone, I will likely start the schedule from 9am and then finish it around 6-8pm

We can shift things around if people who are in a different timezone want to attend one thing, for example.

but we will worry this *after* we decide the agenda

yeah a lot of time for me to dedicate

the idea is though that you drop into the sessions you are interested in...

so to try to cram a bunch of stuff into a day, and then drop in to whatever you want to discuss...

Well, I'm UTC+12, so I'm used to international things happening while I'm asleep, but I doubt I would have had the capacity to join even if it had been at a convenient time.

snuggles, yeah timezones are problematic, unfortunately I am running it based in the UK, maybe in the future if it goes well someone can shift it for their timezone. But the vast majority of people here to my knowledge are European, so I think for the most part, Americans just need to get up early :3

I cant fix the issue of timezones, this is one benefit of IRL conferences, because everyone is in the same timezone, but then you have the fees to fly :p
