I am yeah, my personal vhost is just family however I just set up somestupid.quest with invites, and any local user can invite new folks. It is currently in my homelab but I have access to a box in Auckland datacentre which I would move it to if it got uptake.

I see. I run a server for family and friends, but once people start asking if their friends can invite _their_ friends, I start to wonder about what server with public registration enabled I can recommend.

Before I ran my own server, I think I had an account at jabber.meta.net.nz. I wonder who's behind that, and how up to date the server is, etc.
