can a pubsub feed be embedded into a website, as an announcement feed / twitter replacement?

that might be what I want... I'm looking to post things like "this feature now works" or "i blew up the kernel trying to add this patch, going to get drunk now"

really just things that I'm too lazy to properly update on the website

tbh i just use the rss feed of my git commits for that lol

not a bad solution, but the project itself isn't on git 😢 and commits are forever.... the ability to delete or edit posts is a nice option

sorry for the authbot absence. there was an issue with reboot safety of the bot setup and a kernel update triggered a reboot.

Ah that would explain why people are complaining they can't get voice in the channel lol

but I have unattended-upgrades on auto-reboot, so I don't know when the *first* reboot was which broke it :)

my gut reaction to unattended-upgrades+auto-reboot is "dang that's brave" but nowadays I'm not sure if it's more or less brave than hoping you catch critical things manually in time 💀

How about unattended-upgrades+email notifications? That way you know when you need to reboot.

I've long ago swapped all my server notifications to XMPP but otherwise could be ok :)

I only use apticron

Mailrise can do xmpp via apprise. So anything that would trigger an email notification becomes a xmpp message.

once in the early days I accidentally sent a message so long it found a bug in android's sqlite implementation and bricked Conversations 😂 that's fixed now though so go crazy
