Link Mauve, idea for next year congress: XMPPPixelflut, where you stend one stanza at a time to flip a pixel on the display (server software should preferably be not in python)

    > Link Mauve, idea for next year congress: XMPPPixelflut, where you stend one stanza at a time to flip a pixel on the display (server software should preferably be not in python) mathieui: how big is the canvas ? Are there open source frontends for this kind of thing already? The backend part seems easy and fun to build

  3. mathieui

moparisthebest: canvas is as big as you want it, usually it is projector-resolution sized so you can show it to everyone

  4. mathieui

And there are plenty of pixelflut projects on github I guess

  5. mathieui

(N.B.: if people play seriously, it can seriously impact the relevant server :p)

  6. moparisthebest

Obviously server will be Rust :)

  7. mathieui

moparisthebest, I mean, the servers people will go through to send the stanzas will also be impacted

  8. moparisthebest

Shouldn't be at all, we are talking human initiated traffic

  9. mathieui

moparisthebest, usually pixelfluts are very much not human-driven, but something people push gigabytes of traffic through constaintly in an attempt to push their image (and keep it) on the display

  10. moparisthebest

eh, still very small traffic that shouldn't be a problem at all

  11. moparisthebest

So each message is a color and coordinates for 1 pixel ?

  12. mathieui

    Yup
