Summits, Conferences and Meetups workgroup - 2026-04-25

So I think it would be cool if there is a conf that I can shill XMPP at every year, SOOCon seems like a good candidate, lots of young students, a mix of adults and business orientated attendees, and I have spoken to Terrance a few times at different confs, and they are a board member so would be able to give info on it. My concern is because its businessy they might want some sort of backing to it, aka XSF directly asking for a stand. Therefore I have brought it here (to the SCAM team). Thoughts?

Polarian: the next one is only in February 2027? The XSF is only it's people so you would have to take the lead on that. But if you do that and at some point need someone to rubber stamp a thing I'm sure we can arrange that

There seems to be a certain proximity to summit+fosdem? While I'm personally usually happy to travel to conferences that I haven't been to before that particular date might maks that stressful for me. But generally speaking yes please do that and let us know if/when someone with authority needs to sign off a thing

The only other event was EMFcamp which I got a few people who wanted to help, but only one of them managed to get a ticket because it was oversubscribed

Daniel, I assume the stand at froscon is going ahead like every year? However, have you thought anymore about your idea of having a devroom for XMPP?

I have not applied for the stand yet. Applications have only been open for about a week or so. But I will.

Don't think I'm going to do the devroom. I'm really worried that I'm not going to get enough talks. Plus we are doing summit 29
