No party then. Very disappointing meeting.

  54. stpeter

hmph, I missed all the fun

  55. stpeter waves to Jehan

  56. Kev

    Nevermind :)

  57. stpeter

ok, about this review of the file transfer XEPs, it looks like I'll need to start individually poking members of the technical review team...

  58. Jehan

Hi stpeter. Yeah, there was no fun, don't worry.

  59. Kev

stpeter: yes, I have no time to look at that outside what I need to do for Council atm.

  60. stpeter

while at lunch I wrote up a to-do list with 30+ items on it -- I have a lot to do :)

  61. Kev

    Sorry.

  62. stpeter

    Kev: understood

  63. Kev

I have exactly the same time as everyone else.

  64. Kev

I just have excess things to do in it.

  65. stpeter

hey, I got myself into this IESG thing :P

  66. stpeter

    Kev: yeah yeah yeah :)

  67. Kev

I really want to get this client released ;)

  68. Jehan

Ok anyway here day is beginning.

  69. Jehan

So I guess I should sleep a little.

  70. Tobias

Kev: got all the bugs fixed that prevent it from being usable on a day-to-day basis? :)

  71. Jehan

    So goodbye all!

  72. Kev

    gn Jehan

  73. stpeter

    bye Jehan

  74. Kev

Tobias: oh, it is usable day to day, I do so already ;)

  75. Tobias

    Kev: you masochist ;)

  76. stpeter laughs

  77. stpeter

erk, my inbox is creeping back up into the middle ages :(

  78. stpeter

    we're past the Norman Conquest!

  79. Kev

    Ouch.

  80. stpeter

    :)

  81. Neustradamus

stpeter: I have a little question, can you update http://xmpp.org/xsf/members/memberlist.shtml ?

  82. stpeter

    I can, but Alex will

  83. Neustradamus

    Astro: http://wiki.xmpp.org/web/Stephan_Maka_January_2010 is not in http://xmpp.org/xsf/members/memberlist.shtml here : http://xmpp.org/xsf/members/meetings/2010-02-17.shtml Stephan Maka 36 1

  84. Neustradamus

it is strange, Astro could not vote I think

  85. Dave

For new folks, where is good to hang - mailing lists? chat rooms? which ones?

  86. Kev

jdev@, standards@ for the mailing lists, jdev@conference.jabber.org for the chat rooms

  87. Dave

Does XSF work with other organizations? I was chair of oBIX XML technical committee at OASIS and they were interested in doing a spec for using XMPP as a transport for oBIX.

  88. stpeter

    Dave: yes we do

  89. stpeter

Dave: I've worked with OASIS, Liberty Alliance, W3C, and of course IETF

  90. stpeter

yay, I'm almost finished with my "editor's review" of draft-ietf-xmpp-3920bis -- only the security considerations still to complete

  91. Dave

Great. The oBIX folks will likely ask me to help them craft and review a proposal

  92. stpeter

Dave: I'm in fact an OASIS member now

  93. stpeter

I'm involved (if can call it that) with the XDI and ICOM TCs

  94. stpeter

    +you

  95. Dave

Cool - I am not because my membership was through my old company

  96. stpeter

    yeah

  97. stpeter

I wasn't a member until Jabber Inc. was acquired by Cisco

  98. stpeter

    aha, interesting

  99. Dave

I was mostly involved with oBIX committee and the new OASIS Blue section

  100. stpeter

I know some folks who are planning to submit a XEP about oBIX-related stuff

  101. stpeter

    basically smartgrid stuff over XMPP

  102. stpeter

I need to poke them again

  103. stpeter

    too much to do :)

  104. Dave

I've worked on smartgrid from a few different angles - formerly worked at Trane Commercial Systems doing building automation and integration of the automation systems

  105. Dave

That's how I got into XMPP

  106. stpeter

    excellent

  107. stpeter

the guys I spoke with are at EnerNOC

  108. Dave

It will be interesting to see who can figure out a way to actually do something useful in the space - lots of experimentation going on.

  109. stpeter

    yeah

  110. stpeter

and lots of money sloshing around

  111. Dave

For sure - keeping a lot of folks in business at the moment

  112. Dave

Is there a good way to catch up on what's in-process for new xep proposals - I assume there's a list somewhere?

  113. stpeter

those in-process documents about smartgrid stuff aren't published anywhere yet -- I had promises of submittals but nothing yet

  114. stpeter

in general, the standards@xmpp.org list is where those things are announced

  115. Dave

Yes, I just subscribed to that and see a few things going by. Are there others for which there is no traffic right now? Hard to tell what's NOT there.

  116. stpeter

we have plenty of lists, but that one is probably the most active

  117. stpeter

    things come and go :)

  118. stpeter

we have little lulls sometimes and then boom

  119. Dave

OK - thanks for your help. I'm heading off to dinner now.

  120. stpeter

    good idea

  121. stpeter

I'm going to wander off, myself :)
