  38. Dave Cridland 6 minutes to go. Two board members. I should start poking people, I suppose.
  39. bear in case I get pulled by the meeting i'm lurking in now: +1 to dave as chair, +1 to alex, stpeter
  40. bear but I'm here currently :)
  41. Dave Cridland Not that we need to vote for Chair. :-)
  42. Florian has joined
  43. Dave Cridland Whee. Four directors. Quoratastic.
  44. Florian hey all
  45. Dave Cridland And I think it's time to start.
  46. Dave Cridland So, my understanding is that Alex is happy to continue as Secretary for another session.
  47. Kev 3minutes by my watch, but anyway.
  48. Dave Cridland Oh, is Peter here yet?

  52. Ashley Roach maybe this will hold
  53. stpeter hi Ashley
  54. Ashley Roach tap tap, can you hear me?
  55. Ashley Roach yay!
  56. Dave Cridland Ah, perfect.
  57. Ashley Roach i think adium got confused
  58. stpeter I'm here but on a W3C conference call related to the IETF IRI WG -- always fun
  59. Dave Cridland So, stpeter - are you willing to continue as Executive Director?
  60. Dave Cridland stpeter - and did I get it right that you'realso Treasurer? And do you want to be?
  61. stpeter yes, I can continue as Executive Director -- and I'll have more time for that after March 30
  62. cchris434 has joined
  63. Dave Cridland Hi Chris.
  64. cchris434 hello
  65. stpeter I think it would be good to discuss whether we can find someone else for the Treasurer role (although I'm happy to continue with that, we might want more checks and balances)
  66. Florian great
  67. Dave Cridland Do we have any candidates?
  68. stpeter not really
  69. Dave Cridland If not, then we could post to the list requesting volunteers, if you'd like.
  70. stpeter but we might want to discuss that
  71. stpeter I really don't mind keeping those books
  72. stpeter and it probably helps to have someone in the States for banking purposes
  73. Dave Cridland That thought had occured to me.
  74. stpeter Jack Moffitt volunteered once upon a time, but in fact we never got him set up for check-writing privileges
  75. Dave Cridland I'm happy either way, but the more people involved the better, as a rule, so if you're happy to hand that role onto someone else, I think that'd be great.
  76. Dave Cridland But obviously, we need to find someone we want to do the role.
  77. stpeter right
  78. Florian right
  79. Florian and like Peter said, preferably someone in the US
  80. Dave Cridland So does anyone have any objections to deferring the Treasurer [re-]appointment for a week or two, giving us time to go recruit?
  81. bear +1 to defer - let's beat the bushes to find a suspect
  82. cchris434 agreed
  83. Florian _1
  84. Florian eh +1
  85. stpeter "suspect" :)
  86. Ashley Roach +1
  87. Dave Cridland Right, OK, I think that's unanimous, then.
  88. Florian so next up, FOSDEM report?
  89. Dave Cridland So, Executive Director. No members have approached me, at any rate, complaining about Peter. Is everyone happy with him continuing on?
  90. Dave Cridland Florian, We need to formally appoint the other two officiers first.
  91. Florian oh right:)
  92. Florian +1 for Peter as ED
  93. Dave Cridland I'm in favour of Peter continuing as ED, too.
  94. bear +1 for continuing to torment Peter
  95. cchris434 agreed +1
  96. Dave Cridland Ashley?
  97. Dave Cridland And while Ashley gets his connection back... Is everyone happy with Alex continuing as XSF Secretary?
  98. Florian I am.
  99. Dave Cridland Anyone else?
  100. cchris434 +1
  101. bear +1
  102. Ashley Roach +1
  103. Ashley Roach sorry — multitasking
  104. Dave Cridland OK, so both ED and Secretary positions are filled for the next year (or so).
  105. Dave Cridland So onto FOSDEM.
  106. Ashley Roach has left
  107. Dave Cridland Did eveyone read through the discussions on the members list?
  108. Florian yes, more or less
  109. stpeter I haven't read the last few messages yet
  110. stpeter logs into the xmpp.org WordPress installation
  111. ashleyroach has joined
  112. Dave Cridland The major outstanding thing is there's a suggestion that we should write a blog post saying how wonderful the whole thing was.
  113. Zash :D
  114. ashleyroach that seems like good marketing
  115. stpeter right
  116. ashleyroach do we have photos? if not, it didn't happen, right?
  117. Kev That and that we might consider a Note Well.
  118. stpeter I have photos of the lounge
  119. Dave Cridland I have some photos, I think there are others.
  120. stpeter but not of the devroom
  121. Dave Cridland Kev, Yes, a Note Well would be useful.
  122. Florian I have some photos as well
  123. stpeter Kev: as in IETF Note Well?
  124. Dave Cridland stpeter, I have some photos of the devroom. Including some of me and Kev talking, but those ones are awful.
  125. Kev stpeter: Yes. See discussion on me objecting to being covertly recorded with the intention of publishing the recording.
  126. Kev The rough summary being "Let's have a Note Well, and then I'll know in future that I'm subject to recording".
  127. stpeter Kev: ah, that's in the part of the thread I hadn't read yet
  128. stpeter Kev: but yes, you make a good point
  129. stpeter in any case, we can post a blog entry without audio recordings :)
  130. ashleyroach right
  131. Florian yeah
  132. stpeter I think we can draft something fairly quickly based on the notes that Dave and I made -- I can do that by end of week
  133. Dave Cridland stpeter, If we're to have a *shudder* formal contribution policy, that's something I think we'll spend a considerable time on.
  134. stpeter Dave Cridland: you will note that I started to work on one, see http://xmpp.org/extensions/inbox/copyright.html
  135. Kev The question then is whether we can get by without one. I certainly don't think we can go recording private conversations without telling those involved.
  136. stpeter Dave Cridland: but it would require more work, and probably legal advice
  137. stpeter I'll draft a post and send it to folks for review before we post it
  138. Dave Cridland Kev, I wondered about this. I think we probably can, being a US corporation, actually, except for the fact that the meeting was in the EU, and probably subject to EU laws.
  139. Dave Cridland Kev, FWIW, I don't think Matt can legally keep a copy of the recording without needing to cover himself with Data Protection Act voodo.
  140. cchris434 in the US, it might depend the state you reside in for this type of issue
  141. stpeter heh
  142. Florian heh, this is getting complicated :)
  143. stpeter indeed
  144. Dave Cridland Florian, Right, it is.
  145. stpeter IETF meetings are always covered under Note Well, no matter where they're held
  146. Dave Cridland stpeter, Yes, but the Note Well has had lawyers running over it, and doesn't involve the (implicit?) copyright assignment the XSF uses.
  147. Kev stpeter: Right, which everyone must explicitly agree to, I believe.
  148. Dave Cridland kev, No, it's implicit.
  149. Dave Cridland Kev, I think the lawyers would be happy with an explicit agreement of some kind.
  150. stpeter Dave Cridland: sounds like a topic for another meeting
  151. Florian stpeter: +1
  152. Kev Dave Cridland: Implicit that because it's an IETF venue you're under the Note Well, or implicit that once you're told the Note Well implies to that venue that any contribution is covered?
  153. Kev I thought it was the latter (e.g. that the Note Well was mentioned at the start of sessions)
  154. Dave Cridland Kev, Implicit because you're accepting only by the fact you continue participating.
  155. stpeter the Note Well is mentioned at the beginning of every session, and you also agree to it when you register
  156. Dave Cridland But in any case, I think we move the subject of Note Well etc to the list, if that's OK?
  157. stpeter yep
  158. Kev Sure.
  159. Dave Cridland (As in, I don't think we'll solve this right now).
  160. Florian yes
  161. Dave Cridland SO as actions, I have:
  162. Dave Cridland 1) We're going to beat the bushes and so on and so forth, looking for a Treasurer
  163. stpeter I've already started writing the blog post :)
  164. Dave Cridland 2) Peter is going to do a blog post. I'll send him some photos (On Friday, when I'm home).
  165. stpeter Dave Cridland: great, thanks
  166. Dave Cridland 3) We'll start a thread on the members@ list about participation policy. (ie, recording, copyright, etc).
  167. Dave Cridland Anything else I missed?
  168. Florian sounds good
  169. Dave Cridland Oh, I suppose:
  170. Dave Cridland 4) We should make a call for photos on the summit@ list.
  171. stpeter I already asked for photos, but we can ask again
  172. Dave Cridland stpeter, Oh, yes, you did.
  173. Dave Cridland So, I henceforth, thus, ergo, propose the motion that we adjourn.
  174. Florian +1
  175. bear +1
  176. cchris434 +1
  177. bear flees for hard-deadline offline meeting
  178. bear thanks dave (and all)
  179. Dave Cridland Right - Time Gentlemen, Please.
