  1. jonasw

what to do about XSF applicants with @gmail.com JIDs?

  2. jonasw

I’d like to ask them something about their application…

  3. jonasw

    yeah, that remote-server-not-founds

  4. Wiktor

jonasw: Send an email asking for new JID?

  5. Ge0rG

jonasw: does it really not-found or is it merely lack of TLS?

  6. jonasw

    dunno

  7. jonasw

I didn’t investigate and went only b y what pidgin told me

  8. Ge0rG

pidgin is only the messenger here.

  9. MattJ

    Don't shoot the messenger

  10. Ge0rG

I'm sure we can make one exception

  11. moparisthebest

Ge0rG: not found, Gmail shut off federation months ago

  12. MattJ

    moparisthebest, evidence?

  13. moparisthebest

    It doesn't work?

  14. Zash

    ITYM GTalk

  15. Ge0rG

    Is there a difference?

  16. MattJ

    Indeed, looks like connection refused

  17. Zash

They threw not-authorized or something in response to Dialback a while before that

  18. MattJ

Yeah, and then after that I heard someone say it worked again :)

  19. MattJ

But now looks like it's gone, or they switched to IP whitelisting

  20. Zash

I think that was just random uneven distribution due to clustering.

  21. Zash

    Or A/B testing maybe

  22. Zash

Who knows how Google does things
