So because this was derailed for multiple times already.... Apparently I can't send mails to board@, and there is no way to change it to bounce instead of silently consuming my mail. What is the *official* way to send mails to Board?
-
jonas’
Ge0rG, shall I put the question on the board trello?
-
jonas’
(when I get home)
-
Ge0rG
jonas’: my naive hope is that one of the Board members or iteam happens to know that _before_ the next Board meeting.
-
ralphm
Ge0rG: I will forward your e-mail to Board
-
ralphm
The official way used to be sending e-mail to info@xmpp.org, but since we don't have an ED, there are some things that need fixed. This is one of them.
-
Ge0rG
ralphm: alright, thanks very much. I've seen the info@ address mentioned on one of our pages, but thought it's going to Peter directly, which might not be the appropriate venue right now.
-
ralphm
It is currently, so I'll have that changed.
-
ralphm
I'll ask iteam to send it to me, too.
-
ralphm
and probably Alex
-
Ge0rG
ralphm: thanks for taking this up
-
Ge0rG
> Applications will be accepted until end of business February 24th, 2019 Alex: was that supposed to mean "January", or are we having exceptionally long "two weeks" this Quartal?
-
Alex
Ge0rG: voting period is ~2 weeks, application period is longer. We don't have a fixed schedule for those quarterly application periods and member meetings. I am trying to align them better, but its sometimes hard for me because I have to travel to much
-
Ge0rG
Alex: sorry, I didn't want to sound offensive, I just wondered about the time period.
-
Ge0rG
Maybe there is a better wording for https://xmpp.org/community/membership.html then as well?
-
Alex
Ge0rG: no worries, I was late this time with announcing it. Tried to stay away from a computer over the xmas holidays, then it moved ;-)
-
Ge0rG
Alex: the computer or the holidays? 😉
-
Ge0rG
There are still people out there celebrating Julian Christmas.
-
ralphm
Dear all. Guus has just sent two e-mails regarding the XMPP Summit. TLDR: 1) register (and remember!) your food choices for the XSF Dinner, 2) Sign up on the wiki if you are attending (needed for building access and wifi).
-
ralphm
If you haven't gotten them: https://mail.jabber.org/mailman/listinfo/summit
-
Syndace
ralphm: Is there an archive? I only just subscribed to the list, sorry.
-
ralphm
See the second sentence
-
Ge0rG
Syndace: https://mail.jabber.org/pipermail/summit/
-
intosi
I think you'll find if you follow that link.
-
Ge0rG
Changing the topic for a moment, are there best practices for use of the @xml:lang attribute in XMPP clients?
-
Syndace
Thanks Ge0rG, I did not find it via the link (on mobile though)
-
Ge0rG
Syndace: https://mail.jabber.org/pipermail/summit/2019-January/001918.html and https://mail.jabber.org/pipermail/summit/2019-January/001917.html
-
Link Mauve
Ge0rG, goffi has been working on proper support in his client, I don’t think he wrote anything but a blog post though.
-
ralphm
Syndace: that's surprising. It is the second sentence of the page I linked, to which you then responded. The page should be the same irregardless of the device you're browsing from. Do you have a screenshot?
-
Syndace
It lead me to the registration form which I then used. Maybe it also contained a link to the archive but by registering I left the page.
-
Syndace
I'll check
-
Syndace
It does indeed, sorry again
-
ralphm
no worries, just making sure it works properly
-
ralphm
Syndace: also, I think your registration confirmation should have a link to the archive.
-
Link Mauve
goffi, fyi, on https://www.goffi.org/ when I click on older articles at the bottom (which is quite hidden by the background btw) it puts me back to the same page.
-
Syndace
The "welcome to the summit list" one does not contain a (direct) link to the archives but it contains a link that in turn links to the archive ^^ I guess I expected some hint where to find archives on the page you get to when you finish the registration.
-
pep.
btw, not so long ago there were talks of organizing another XMPP event(?) some kind of conference? Guus? Does that need any board seal of approval first?
-
Ge0rG
pep.: IIRC it was a talk about making the Summit more conference'y, to improve the boss factor and get it paid. But also a dedicated track or conference for XMPP, but without a clear mission statement
-
Kev
That wasn't what I'd understood, FWIW.
-
pep.
Ge0rG, boss factor? :P
-
Guus
I've discussed both, with different people. 🙂
-
pep.
I'd be interested to help organising. I have no idea what's been discussed though, it'd be nice to clear this first
-
Guus
And yes, I once uttered that desire to have more than one bigger event - but that, as of yet, did not progress beyond the "I think it's a nice idea" phase.
-
Ge0rG
pep.: the boss factor is what gets your boss to pay for your summit participation
-
Guus
pep. let's discuss this (later) in the SCAM muc, ok?
-
pep.
Guus, sure
-
Guus
today, I'm kind of swamped.
-
pep.
scam@muc.xmpp.org ?
-
Guus
yes
