  1. dwd

    Afternoon.

  2. Kev

    Already?

  3. dwd

    Borderline evening, in fact.

  4. Zash

    Ge0rG: poke

  5. Ge0rG

    Zash: what did you do?

  6. Zash

    Reset s2s connections

  7. Ge0rG

And what happens to the messages I sent earlier?

  8. Zash

    Into the aether

  9. Ge0rG

    All glory to xmpp.

  10. jonas’

    all glory to xmpp!

  11. Zash

Zero deployment of 198 for s2s, what do you expect?

  12. edhelas is writing XEP-****: MAM over Aether

  13. Ge0rG

Zash: it's disabled by default, and thus untested, and thus nobody enables it

  14. Ge0rG

Let me LMC them. They will appear with a fresh timestamp to everybody but to me then.

  15. Zash

Ge0rG: Looks like the connection broke yesterday

  16. Ge0rG

Zash: around noon CEST? Unfortunately yaxim stopped updating the status.

  17. Zash

Ge0rG: May 20 06:54:26 is the last I can see until I kicked it just now

  18. Ge0rG

That's interesting. Is there anything about why it broke, and why it wasn't restored again? Is my pinger dead?

  19. Zash

Ge0rG: Wait, there was more, last message at May 20 20:03:48

  20. Zash

Ge0rG: Wait, there was more, last keepalive at May 20 20:03:48

  21. dwd

Zash, It's "Æther", and usually transcribed as "Ether" in English, hence "Ethernet" - so we hopefully do send the messages into the ether.

  22. Ge0rG

Did I ever mention that the prosody pinger module should reset s2s on a timeout?

  23. Zash

It should start by actually checking for that

  24. Zash

The good news is that we have the pieces we need for doing that nicely now. The bad news for you is that it's in trunk.

  25. Ge0rG

Did I open a ticket for that?

  26. Zash

    Dunno

  27. pep.

I really wish someday we have a real diff between versions in XEPs, not just a line in the changelog :/

  28. pep.

I that a thing people would consider btw? It it just lack of resources/nobody came up with that before?

  29. pep.

Is that a thing people would consider btw? It it just lack of resources/nobody came up with that before?

  30. jonas’

    pep., it existed before

  31. jonas’

    based on htmldiff

  32. jonas’

but htmldiff has a huge computational complexity

  33. jonas’

and since we lost the ability to have incremental builds when everything was dockerized, running it in the docker setup is not feasible

  34. pep.

    hmm

  35. Zash

I've got an incomplete thing based on conversion to markdown and comparing that

  36. jonas’

when I’m done wtih th eserver migration, I might set up something on my own infrastructure which does stuff like that

  37. jonas’

as a proof-of-concept type of thing

  38. Zash

XEP version tags will make it much easier

  39. helloshitty

    hello

  40. helloshitty

I'm having trouble to connect to XMPP servers from my mcabber client

  41. helloshitty

    Anyone willing to help?

  42. helloshitty

For instance, I tried to connect to mcabber@conf.lilotux.net an I get an error message saying (guess what) "Error while trying to connect"

  43. helloshitty

I have created a JID and added it to mcabberrc file along with the password for now and added this server also to mcabberrc file

  44. helloshitty

Can't figure out what might be wrong

  45. jeroen

Can everybody add his availability for the XMPP sprint in The Haque before Sundat? This way we can make for sure that there is enough beer and things like that.
