jonas’ I'm not aware of any such etiquette. A one-minute interval on s2s seems like a acceptable frequency to me, fwiw.

status.conversations.im has been doing this for a while on a 2 minute interval. The issue is probably not the ping itself - in terms of bandwidth and cpu impact on the server that should be fairly insignificant. The issue is that it keeps s2s connections open
