XSF Discussion - 2019-11-13

  1. Ge0rG

So I wanted to vote on Board and realized that I need to vote on Council first. And vice versa.

  2. nyco

hello webteam or iteam or anyone who can commit/deploy: https://github.com/xsf/xmpp.org/pull/634 sorry for this one...

  3. Seve

    nyco, done :) thank you!

  4. nyco

fast! thx! how much time does it take for a PR to effectively land on the website?

  5. pep.

master is building now, I cancelled the build for the PR that was blocking it

  6. pep.

Don't know how long that takes though

  7. Seve

    from where, pep.?

  8. Seve

    https://travis-ci.org/xsf/xmpp.org/builds

  9. pep.

    from the docker hub thing

  10. pep.

ah well. I don't really know how everything interacts together :x

  11. Zash

    Who does?

  12. pep.

    unsure

  13. nyco

it's a matter of minutes, not hours, thx anyway

  14. nyco

still not online, should we worry?

  15. jonas’

    nyco, AFAICT it’s fixed?

  16. jonas’

https://xmpp.org/2019/11/newsletter-08-november/ links to https://www.erlang-solutions.com/blog/build-a-complete-ios-messaging-app-using-xmppframework-part-2.html which is not 404

  17. Zash

    Harder reload

  18. Zash

Looks like the image restarted an hour ago

  19. nyco

not for me, even after a force-reload

  20. nyco

    btw https://twitter.com/linuxfrorg/status/1194638582708764672

  21. Zash

    Weird. Works for me.

  22. flow

and now I wondered what a linux frog is

  23. Ge0rG

it's like a penguin, but smaller and greener

  24. Link Mauve

Also only French people will eat them.

  25. jonas’

nyco, I blame your client ;)

  26. nyco

    yep

  27. nyco

and now it works for me... that might be a simple case of PEBKAC

  28. Holger

Ge0rG et al.: https://wiki.xmpp.org/web/Multi-Session_Nicks#Client-side_workaround_behavior no longer tells clients to tag outgoing PMs with an <x/> as it might prevent carbon-copying, while ex. 47 in 0045 still has that tag. Is there a consensus on the best practice?

  29. Ge0rG

Holger: I added the <del> when I realized that some dumb server will silently prevent CCing of <x/> tagged messages

  30. Ge0rG

Holger: IIRC this has been resolved by now

  32. jonas’

Guus, if I didn’t know you, I’d be pretty annoyed with your board application by the way ;)

  33. jonas’

    ohhh

  34. jonas’

    nevermind

  35. jonas’

I’m going to be annoyed with my screen’s and the wiki theme’s contrast instead

  36. Zash

jonas’, annoyed enough to do something about it?

  37. jonas’

I’m not motivated to touch mediawiki css

  38. Ge0rG

somebody should touch the mediawiki and make it mobile-friendly, finally

  39. Holger

    Ge0rG: Ok, thanks!

  40. Ge0rG

speaking of it, my Board vote goes to anybody who promises to fix the wiki on mobile!

  41. Guus

jonas’ I will not deny that there's a good level of laziness in my application.

  42. jonas’

Guus, i initially thought you didn’t even link to the previous application, but it was just hidden by styling

  43. Guus

I'd like to think that I'm at least consistently lazy 😉

  44. Ge0rG

    Holger: I've updated the wiki

  45. jonas’

I just sent in my votes

  46. jonas’

    this was a tough one

  47. jonas’

thanks for everyone who is standing

  48. jonas’

looking forward to some mixing up of things

  49. MattJ

    Me too

  50. MattJ

    Time to submit my votes

  51. Zash

    Just voted

  52. nyco

btw, those pages are empty: https://wiki.xmpp.org/web/XMPP_WIKI:Privacy_policy https://wiki.xmpp.org/web/XMPP_WIKI:General_disclaimer should we do something about it?

  53. pep.

We probably should indeed, if they don't appear anywhere else

  54. nyco

and iTeam: our Mediawiki version is 1.25.2: https://wiki.xmpp.org/web/Special:Version and it is unsupported: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MediaWiki_version_history can/should we upgrade? (mmhh... do we have working backups?)

  55. Zash

I believe it's a matter of poking some Docker something somehing

  56. nyco

    that

  57. Zash

    https://github.com/xsf/mediawiki-docker

  58. Holger

    Ge0rG: 👍

  59. Neustradamus

nyco: I think it will be done with the OS upgrade that I request since several years ago.

  60. pep.

    If you requested it then..

  61. Zash

    but it's in docker

  62. Guus

Neustradamus: do you have a PNG version of the logo?

  63. Guus

Neustradamus: also, did you work with Ralphm on the LinkedIn thing?

  64. nyco

yes, the LinkedIn page please... there is a LinkedIn group though: https://www.linkedin.com/groups/49429/

  65. pep.

nyco, that's owned by Neustradamus iiuc

  66. Neustradamus

Guus: No I have not, I can do it later

  67. Neustradamus

    I will see for LinkedIn.
