  1. flow

Zash, you describe the situation in c2s, but xep225 talks about component connections. I think the intention is to use JIDs (bare dominpart jids in the case of components) at the TLS layer (e.g. the certificate's DNS SAN) and in the SASL layer when connecting a component to an xmpp server

  2. flow

although I could imagine that we could do/allow the same as we do with c2s connection for component connections and SASL, i.e. the the authzid does not strictly has to be JID (or a part of the JID), I am not sure if it's worth it as it potentially adds to confusion

  3. Zash

flow, but it talks about connecting as a normal client at first

  12. Guus

    I received your 'blah'

  13. Guus

but still get errors when trying to reply

  14. dwd

    Exclamation mark or question mark?

  15. Guus

    Blah?

  16. Guus

    not Blah!

  17. Guus

I've sent you the stuff I wanted to send you by email now 🙂

  18. Guus

dwd: I got the "Blah!" on my mobile

  19. flow

Zash, I am not sure it does (it talks about that the stream establishment is identical to c2s with the mentioned exceptions), and even if, does it matter?

  20. Zash

How do I distinguish between the user 'component.example.com@example.com' and the component 'component.example.com' ?

  21. flow

Zash, good question, I assume the answer probably involves different ports

  22. flow

but xep225 sure could be calrified regarding this

  23. jonas’

  38. lovetox

so how does last call work?

  39. lovetox

i give my feedback and then authors have to respond to it?

  40. Daniel

    Yes

  41. Daniel

For some definition of 'have to respond'

  42. flow

lovetox, they do not have to respond to it

  43. flow

    they also could just vanish

  44. Daniel

They don't have to. But if they completely ignore feedback it won't make it to draft

  45. flow

depends if the voting body aggrees with the feedback

  46. Zash

    The holy text: <https://xmpp.org/extensions/xep-0001.xml#proposal>

  47. Zash

    > Once the consensus of the Standards SIG has been incorporated into the XEP and all issues of substance raised during the Last Call have been addressed by the XEP author or Document Shepherd

  48. Zash

[editor asks council or such to vote]

  49. flow

lovetox, recent changes to xep1 also introduced the "Document Shepherd" role if the authors become inactive

  50. lovetox

yeah authors are not inactive here

  51. lovetox

    i just wondered
