  1. larma

How do people feel about enabling the Deferred check box by default on https://xmpp.org/extensions/ ?

  2. Ge0rG

That sounds like "our process is broken, let's treat the symptoms"

  3. pep.

    remove deferred :x

  4. pep.

but in the meantime, I don't see why that'd not being done already

  6. larma

Ge0rG, deferred isn't really different from experimental, so what is the rationale to hide deferred when showing experimental?

  7. Ge0rG

larma: they are deferred because they got lost and or abandoned

  8. larma

that's not the definition of deferred

  9. larma

Literally the definition is "has not been updated in twelve months" which implies nothing.

  10. moparisthebest

Like that lost abandoned mam thing no one uses

  11. larma

Even XEP-0001 suggests that it could be "because it depends on other specifications that have yet to move forward"

  12. larma

We have a bunch of experimental XEPs that depend on deferred XEPs, which is kind of weird if we hide deferred but not experimental...

  13. Ge0rG

larma: I'm sure that the background of this was the expectation that 12 months are enough to spec out something and to advance it.

  14. Ge0rG

I consider all the XEPs that are in experimental for more than 12 months as abandoned, because either there is still work to be done and nobody to do it, or they are ready to advance and there is nobody to advance them
