goffi: one question, you commited to the August release, which is the "new" draft. what we will release on the 6th is the July version (another open PR #730) was that intended?

emus, no it's mistake, please move it to July (I was not sure if August was the month of the publication, or the month of the related things).

Don't know. You don't have to start with profanity or poezio. Pick conversations, dino and it's dead simple.

How did he know about element? Somehow you have to search for a client. If he already knows xmpp is existing he'll probably should be able to find the clients.

The world is messy. Anything actually used in the real world will be a bit messy.

Compliance suites and the Modern XMPP project are meant to help there. No idea if they found those.

if I just type XMPP to Google, the only thing place right is Conversations from the app store suggestion. but more or less no other relevant clients

General question

All these things that boil down to marketing just make me depressed. I want to write code that makes things better, not marketing / SEO.

Searching for "xmpp desktop" the second hit in my searx instance is https://xmpp.org/software/clients.html

But for newcomers this list might not be very helpful as there is no description of the clients. They might end up with pidgin or thunderbird…

Zash: But no one will know really... and Im not saying we should go crazy on marketing, however at least have some basics and not leave it to a state where it actually does harm

Maintaining these kinds of lists takes time too

somebody needs to create a new list, and then we will add it to xmpp.org

let’s ask 404.city, I heard they’ve got some interest in maintaining a list.
