    ???

  2. Guus

It's perfectly acceptable for roster items to not be in any group, isn't it?

  3. MattJ

    Yes

  4. Guus

flow do you recall if Smack once upon a time forced all users in some kind of dummy group, if they were not in any?

  5. Ge0rG

if you treat your groups as a one-level hierarchy, you need to put them into an awkward no-group group

  6. Guus

Yeah, I wonder if that's the reasoning of the code that I'm looking at.

  7. Ge0rG

I'm using smack, but my client actually only supports one group per contact, so it's broken

  8. !XSF_Martin

I don't know what my clients can cope with but I have always only one group per contact. So either you are family or friend, you can't be both in my roster!

  9. Guus

Spark (Smack based) just puts duplicates in each group

  10. Guus

    heh

  11. Guus

So I have a listing for a contact when offline, in a pseudo-group 'offline contacts' - but as soon as the user pops online, they disappear from my contact list. 🙂

Guus, Pidgin does that for sure
