  1. Wojtek

    yup

  2. Wojtek

otherwise you will only see what your server has sent (i.e. "new message") untill you open the app

  3. Wojtek

we do hope to propose it as propper XEP

  4. eta

Wojtek, yeah, it's a nice XEP

  5. Wojtek

hmm, on that note - @jonas’ has shared with you XEP template the other day - would you mind sharing it? (tried to find it without much luck)

  6. eta

    Wojtek, it's in xsf/xeps

  7. eta

    Wojtek, https://github.com/xsf/xeps/blob/master/xep-template.xml

  8. Wojtek

    thanks!

    >> Wojtek, yeah, siskin is pretty solid from what I've seen :) > Yeah, seems to work pretty good for my apples. did you do a 😎️ ... apples to apples comparison?

  10. mdosch

Before I let them try Chatsecure and it didn't really work well.

  11. eevvoor

mdosch, I had several cases in the near past where only siskin worked. No monal, no chatsecure could even login.

  12. mdosch

Monal was on the other end when some of my messages got lost, so I wasn't brave enough to let my Apple users try it.

  13. eevvoor

haha I know this kind of braveness :D

  14. eevvoor

But lost messages are a general Problem for any iPhone App. But it differs from phone to phone which App works best ...

  15. eevvoor

*any iPhone XMPP App I mean of course

  16. mdosch

Ok, so far I haven't experienced message loss with siskin.

  17. eevvoor

I have already. But seldom enough to not losing the iPhone person. Round about once in three moths.

  18. eta

eevvoor: did they enable MAM in settings?

  19. eevvoor

eta ah no, if it is not the default.

  20. eevvoor

I mean, "they" don't do anything, they are normal people. They just send pics and sound and sometimes text ... 🙄

  21. Andrzej

by default Siskin should ask about it, but there was an error in the last stable version which will be fixed in the upcoming version

  22. mdosch

Yeah, Holger and me already tried to convince them to enable push and mam by default but they are concerned about gdpr.

  23. emus

mdosch: Happy to have you supporting with CommTeam topics

  24. emus

  25. wurstsalat

  27. emus

    wurstsalat:

  28. wurstsalat

thanks emus ! I’m a little late with Gajim’s development news this month

  29. emus

    Is fine

  30. emus

Here is the full plan: https://github.com/xsf/xmpp.org/pull/756

  32. Ge0rG

I wouldn't be surprised if this was a coordinated troll effort by left/right online activists to deplatform the right/left activists

  33. Ge0rG

...given that you can easily game "crowdsourced" app/social media abuse report systems, given a thousand users or so

  34. Zash

"It hurt itself in its confusion"

  35. edhelas

    Also https://nl.movim.eu/?node/pubsub.movim.eu/Movim

  36. edhelas

The "subscribe" button on top is a XMPP link, if you're using Movim, it should directly redirect you to the pubsub node then you can subscribe to it

  37. edhelas

    It's based on https://xmpp.org/extensions/xep-0060.html#registrar-querytypes

  38. edhelas

It's (I think) the very first time there's such link online, it would be good to push similar buttons around to promote Pubsub content :)

  39. pep.

what, XMPP for something else than IM? blasphemy! :)

  40. edhelas

Well I think it's time to show that we can do more than that :p

  41. edhelas

Having the XMPP blog on a Pubsub node, and allow folks to follow it using their XMPP client could be great

  42. edhelas

it's actually working pretty well for years

  43. pep.

(That was sarcasm. Just saying out loud what many think :))
