  2. Neustradamus

Of course it is not up-to-date, there are other after XEP-0416.

  3. flow

Lance> you can send action=execute any time. but it's the "idk what i want, you decide for me" option. so the responder decides what actually happens Only if you received a well-formed form.

  5. Ge0rG

Neustradamus: please don't copy paste walls of text

  6. Neustradamus

Ge0rG: The problem is that my ticket has been hidden by GitHub, the only possibility is to recall here ;)

  7. jonas’

Neustradamus, why was it hidden by github?

  8. jonas’

I cannot see it and I have privileges on that repo, that is weird

  9. Ge0rG

Neustradamus: no, the problem is you copy pasting a wall of text.

  10. Ge0rG

jonas’: maybe Neustradamus account got flagged?

  11. Guus

Off-topic. but lots of smart people here: if systemctl commands time out all the time ("Failed to reload daemon: Connection timed out"), how to diagnose? I'm thinking that systemctl is a front-end to a service provider (systemd?) that it cannot reach? How would that communication occur normally?

  12. jonas’

run strace on it to see where the timeout really occurs

  13. jonas’

the communication between systemctl and systemd happens, on the lowest level, via unix sockets IIRC

  14. jonas’

possibly there is dbus involved though

  15. mathieui

Guus, tiemouts with systemd mean a reboot for me, usually, it’s too much to debug (also at this point a hard reboot is often required because you can’t systemctl reboot)

  16. mathieui

    (but I’m not a sysadmin /o\)

  17. flow

    I can only recommend #systemd

  18. Shell

it's dbus over a specific unix socket

  19. Guus

(re systemd issues: having a unit file that's close to 10MB can introduce parsing/reloading problems. Who would've thought.)

  20. jonas’

    what

  21. mathieui

    what

  22. Guus

Some kind of automated provisioning tool is generating a service file. Apparently, there's a bit of a bug in the script that it uses.

  23. flow

Guus, does systemd crash or does it look like a clean error exit? if the former, then you may have disovered a security issue \o/

  24. Guus

flow, I think it simply starts parsing, which takes a longer time than the utils that wait for it to finish find acceptable.

  25. Guus

it might be 'working' as intended, but very, very slow.

  26. jonas’

flow, if you can inject arbitrary unit files, it’s game over already anyway

  27. Alex

If you are an XSF member and have not voted on the board & council elections yet then please take some time and do so. Only 1 day left

  28. flow

jonas’, not for users units, no?

  29. mathieui

    Thanks for the reminder Alex!

  30. flow

jonas’, not for user units, no?

  31. jonas’

flow, but that’s a separate systemd instance then

  32. flow

ahh ok, wasn't aware of that

  33. Kev

    Thanks for the reminder, Alex.

  34. Alex

is there someone with admin permissions that can enable issues for memberot repo on GitHub? Or what you guys prefer to store those issues somewhere esle?

  35. Kev

    Done

  36. Alex

    Kev, 👍

  37. Guus

ah, I was just going to say that they _are_ enabled...

  38. Kev

(I'm always a little wary of enabling issue tracking and the like, because there are some people who make it their mission to file noisy and valueless reports to sap everyone's time, but I don't see a reason to resist this if you want it :))

  39. jonas’

Kev, I’m sure your email provider has tools to deal with that

  40. jonas’

I once made a sieve script to mark messages as read by github user name.

  41. Neustradamus

Tickets are very important to follow and solve problems.

  42. SamWhited

Is anyone in the ejabberd room? It's telling me that it's members only now

  43. benharri

i'm in there, didn't notice any change

  44. SamWhited

hmm, reporting members only from every client I try to join from. I used to at least have voice or whatever to get around the captcha, but it's been a bit since I've had to join to ask a question or anything.

  45. SamWhited

oooh, according to the internet this means you have to register a nick first. I don't think I have a single client that supports that. Oh well.

  46. benharri

registering a nick sounds like an irc thing...

  47. SamWhited

Turns out it just moved to a different server since the last time I joined, the internet and the error message are equally confusing :)

  48. benharri

    ya, it's on conference.process-one.net i think

  49. lovetox

SamWhited, i can join it fine

  50. SamWhited

lovetox: the room changed; I was trying to join the old one which is still listed on the website

  51. lovetox

    ah k
