arc: Nice, anything we can announce in the newsletter or fosstodon? (and twittee+r if someone is happy to support there)
-
arc
Basically what's on those two wiki pages
-
arc
They're actually kind of related, because the sprints are intended as part of our student application process

Hello, I wanted to ask for volunteers being able to send tweets
-
SamWhited
emus: sure, I'm generally at my desk most of the day eastern time and can probably help
-
emus
Sam, sorry if that was not clear, but you also have access to the XSF Twitter account?
-
Zash
Who does have access to the Twitter account?
-
Ge0rG
Kev does?

What do you guys think:

The #XMPP Standards Foundation would like to announce two events with similar relation: The Spring Relay 2021 - This six week event will focus on multiple separate community proposed topic. Participating projects should be team-based with seasoned developers ready to mentor newcomers including Google Summer of Code student applicants. This is a pre-requisite for the next event (within XSF): Google Summer of Code 2021 The mentoring organization application deadline is the 19th of February and Student application period begins from the 29th of March. If you are interested please start here with the the Spring Relay 2021: https://wiki.xmpp.org/web/Spring_Relay_2021 -- I would like to provide a "first contact" information. Can we place this in the wiki?

Hmm. Well, everyone is welcome to participate. The wiki list is for guiding newcomers to projects that are open to new developers.
-
arc
And we need org ideas long before the 19th.
-
arc
I only made the team-based distinction because many xmpp projects are solo, personal projects that neither want on need new developers. And we don't want newcomers to get stuck trying to weed through those to find the community based ones.
-
arc
Obviously, GSoC needs community oriented projects too or students wouldn't have a mentorship team
-
emus
Ok, but may you adjust the text I drafted?
-
SamWhited
emus: no, I'm just volunteering if you need help on the comm team, you'd need to grant me access.
-
emus
If its legit to give you post access, that would be a great support! And I would support this
-
Kev
All that’s needed for people to get access to post to the Twitter account is to get someone responsible (i.e. Board) to drop me a mail asking for it to happen (and who to give it to) and it’ll happen. I believe other people can also do it.
-
Kev
But right now I’m off towards bed :)

Then can someone (tm) put it on the board's agenda to discuss giving emus access to the Twitter account? Seeing as he is basically *the* comm team?
-
emus
The problem is not that, the problem is that I dont wanna create a private twitter account
-
emus
But I am fine to agree that SamWhited can have one
-
emus
So, I would ask board to allow Sam this access
-
SamWhited
Board controls twitter access? Isn't this sort of thing why we have a comm team?

emus

ah yea I wouldn't want a twitter account either, I thought it was controlled by some 3rd party or something, someone mentioned tweetdeck ?
-
emus
I cannot find your mail on the Wiki profile Kev
-
emus
Yes, and I would be happy if Board can discuss SamW. account link / access - second, I would like to ask a Twitter Admin to pin the English blog post tweet. Normal access accounts seem to have sufficient rights for that.
