for better anonymity/privacy purposes, would it be possible to add MUC-specific avatars?
-
BASSGOD
MUC admins would be able to see the real avatar just like they can see the real JID
-
BASSGOD
normal participants/members wouldn't be able to do so
-
BASSGOD
in effect, this allows a person to assume a different identity to prevent someone from stalking/tracking them across multiple public MUCs
-
moparisthebest
Almost anything is possible if someone writes the spec and the code
-
moparisthebest
I guess a simple server module could decide to respond to different mucs with a different avatar
-
mathieui
BASSGOD: a muc service faking the vcards and avatars instead of proxying them is certainly a possibility
-
lovetox
BASSGOD, in ejabberd you can already disable iq routing in mucs

lovetox: what is iq routing and where would i learn more about it?
-
BASSGOD
mathieui: would this MUC service be part of the XMPP standards or what?
-
BASSGOD
i am not really a programmer so i doubt i could write the code for this kind of stuff
-
Zash
iq, for info-query, one of the 3 building blocks of xmpp. works weirdly in MUC, if it's even specified

interesting, reading right now
-
lovetox
BASSGOD, you dont need to spec or code anything, use a ejabberd server, disable iq routing in mucs
-
lovetox
and you have the privacy you want
-
lovetox
this obviously means, no avatars for anyone
-
BASSGOD
is it possible to disable iq routing for specific MUCs?
-
lovetox
yes, its in the specific muc config dialog
-
lovetox
every room admin can do it

Hi, is there anyone else (especially if there are any outlook users) that experience that the newsletter ends up in spam?
-
mdosch
No outlook user, didn't go to spam.
