  1. emus

Actually, do we have a "server burned down" strategy? 😬

  2. Zash

    Apparently we do

  3. Zash

Looks like it's just about one year since it happened last time, and we're still here somehow.

  4. emus

    Ok, thats good

  5. MattJ

Oh yeah, it's that time of year :)

  6. jonas’

    oh true

  7. jonas’

good thing that you picked DO over OVH last year I suppose :-X

  8. MattJ

    Heh

  9. Zash

    Oof

  10. mathieui

Oh "This site is experiencing technical difficulties" on wiki.xmpp.org

  11. Zash

    Oh no

  12. mathieui

it sometimes work, but the website is clearly not happy

  13. Zash

    High load, looking

Looks like the spring relay won't end up happening since no one really signed up and it was sort of tied to GSoC, but do we want to organize a few calls to chat about / work on various topics in the next few weeks instead? /cc arc

  15. flow

Sam, thanks for clarifying the GDPR situation on standards@

  16. Sam

sure. again, I'm no expert, but I am super sick of dealing with gdpr fud at work'

    > Looks like the spring relay won't end up happening since no one really signed up and it was sort of tied to GSoC, but do we want to organize a few calls to chat about / work on various topics in the next few weeks instead? /cc arc Tbh it was never quite clear to me if this sprint is a public event mainly focused on bringing outside people to XMPP or something for existing xmpp developers to come together and prototype a new feature / collaborate on something (like some of the sprints we had in 2019)

  18. Sam

I dunno, doesn't really matter either way as long as we get some people together virtually and chat about things.

  19. dwd

Sam, Yes, the GDPR suggestion there is... interesting. Arguably there *is* PII in the form of the applicants' names, but it forms an intrinsic legal requirement for the operation of the foundation, and is entirely voluntary.

  20. jonas’

    I’m fairly certain it’s bogus.

  21. Sam

dwd: to be clear, I meant that the votes aren't PII (and who cast them doesn't display their names). But if they meant the names of the people applying that's still not a GDPR problem, it's voluntary and we're up front about how we use them so 🤷

  22. dwd

Absolutely. If voting could contravene the GDPR, a set of laws implemented in the largest group of democracies in the world, there'd be a ... problem.

  23. Zash

Uh, do I want to read?

  24. Ge0rG

    No.

  25. Ge0rG

Now I wonder if there were any Last Calls of 0280 before 2015.

  26. w1pp3dcr34m

Good day everyone. I'm looking for a groupchat with people that have knowledge about the XMPP protocol and its security mechanisms. Am I in the right place?

  27. Zash

There are certainly such people hanging here.

  28. w1pp3dcr34m

Great! I will try to type out a few technical questions I have.

  29. Zash

This of course does not mean that they're all awake and actively paying attention. If it's something complicated enough that you have to ask to ask, I'm wondering if maybe one of the mailing lists are more appropriate.
