  1. moparisthebest

emus, no that one isn't linked from there

  2. emus

Ah now I see - jubalh would you mind to create a PR evtl. also for the other linked library?

  3. roro

    > roro, also XMPP is XML over TLS, Matrix is JSON over HTTPS, that's more on the level of implementation detail that doesn't matter though Thanks for that. I'm very interested in what delta.chat is doing now. There is no native voice or video support but conceptually is quite fun.

  4. L29Ah

    tox

  5. qrpnxz

passing all the suites isn't trivial: https://hyperlife.xyz/share/xmpp-todo.txt

  6. qrpnxz

    > XMPP is XML over TLS over TCP

  7. Zash

    inb4 someone brings up QUIC

  8. moparisthebest

I'm using it over QUIC already, it's not quite buttoned up yet

  9. dwd

moparisthebest, Get an I-D together if you can. Happy to help you navigate that process.

  10. moparisthebest

thanks I will certainly take you up on that

  11. moparisthebest

few more things to take care of first though, for instance I went with xep-0368 style mixing regular SRV records in the interest of getting *something* working, while I think the proper solution is SRV2/HTTPSVC to replace SRV records across the board

  12. Ge0rG

Is the XSF a non-profit or a charity org? Asking for a German translation

  13. MattJ

    I would stick to non-profit

  14. Zash

Does it not have that magic number?

  15. emus

As I connnect charity with collecting money, I say we are not this, right?

  16. emus

this number thing is not relevant for Germany I think

  17. Ge0rG

well, dict.leo.org claims it's the same in the translation, and I don't care enough to find a non-bulky synonym

  18. MattJ

I don't know much about US organisation classifications (says the ED of one) but I don't think the XSF is a charity, and non-profit is certainly less ambiguious internationally

  19. emus

    Ge0rG: better try with pons

  20. emus

or call it "organisation without commercial background" (in german of course)

  21. menel

    I suppose its "gemeinnützig"

  22. menel

    https://dict.leo.org/englisch-deutsch/non-profit

  23. Ge0rG

menel: that's what I've written, but that term actually has a very clearly defined meaning, and promoting open standards isn't on the list

  24. Ge0rG

So I've cheated a little, but that's for the greater good

  25. menel

I really think that it would be indeed a "gemeinnutziger Verein im Sinne des Steuerrechts" in germany. Because it does not make profit and does a service to the people.

  26. Ge0rG

menel: I've been in such a Verein for twenty years, and we never obtained charity status because our cause was not on the official list

  27. Ge0rG

Late last year, the list apparently was extended with climate activism and... Freifunk

  28. emus

    Ge0rG: just write gemeinnützig

  29. emus

    wow

  30. Ge0rG

They literally added Freifunk to the law text, right there between carnival and dog sports

  31. menel

Oh, maybe you are right https://www.gesetze-im-internet.de/ao_1977/__52.html But it can still be used, just not in a "Steuerrecht" Sinn. Although If I was a judge, I would say its "Promotion of consumer protection"

  32. Ge0rG

menel: I'd say it goes under "maintenance of cemeteries"

  33. menel

They really need to add somehing that covers public infrastructure.

  34. menel

    Including digital

  35. Ge0rG

    Flying taxis

  36. emus

    > Ge0rG escribió: > menel: I'd say it goes under "maintenance of cemeteries" 🤣🤣🤣 thats the Ge0rG answer I expected I think menel has a point on the difference to tax issues

  37. emus

maybe add "im nicht steuerrechtlichen Sinne"

  38. menel

No, just omit it 😄 German Wikipedia says there is much gemeinnutzig without being on that tax list

  39. Menel

    > the promotion of international spirit, tolerance in all fields of culture and the idea of international understanding; Or its that.. It helps me to understand people internationally 😉

  40. emus

The XSF website does support dark mode "now". It is not perfect everywhere, but lets see. Thanks to Link Mauve!

  41. Zash

    😎️

  42. emus

Ah sorry, no actually was your commit once!

  43. emus

Thanks to Zash and Link Mauve!

  44. Zash

    Was it?

  45. emus

But also the XMPP Newsletter can be read in dark mode now 🙂 - XMPP Newsletter? Oh yes - saying that you are reminded to add your news from May if you haven't done yet 😊️ 😉 😛 Commits can be done via those ways: - the [online pad](https://yopad.eu/p/xmpp-newsletter-365days) - the [XSF Comm-Team group chat (MUC)](xmpp:commteam@muc.xmpp.org?join) - the current [XSF Github repository](https://github.com/xsf/xmpp.org/milestone/3)

  48. Zash

    Totally forgot

  49. emus

What do you mean, it is merged and working, right?

  50. Zash

  52. emus
