  2. şişio

    Right?

  3. Zash

There are some more RFCs linked at the top of https://xmpp.org/extensions/ that are relevant.

  4. Zash

RFC 6121: XMPP-IM for example, which defines basic chat stuff.

  5. şişio

But core code is https://datatracker.ietf.org/doc/html/rfc6120 ı think

  6. Zash

    Yes.

  7. şişio

    The rest are the others.

  8. şişio

    Thanks

  9. şişio

By the way sometimes orbot is reconnect, meanwhile ip appears. Orbot not perfect.

  10. şişio

But that can't be on xmpp.

  11. goffi

Hi. Is there a general XMPP support MUC? I mean we have jdev@ for developers, xsf@ for specs, but I think that when it goes to end user, they have to find the client-specific room. Maybe it would be more user friendly to have a common room (one per language): more easy to find, more users to answer, and probably most question don't need to be redirected to client specific rooms. What do you think? Would be nice also to have a directory of those room, jabberfr has French support room which could be good candidate for this language.

  12. Zash

Did jabber@conference.jabber.org fill this role back in the day?

  13. eta

the idea of an "XMPP HQ" similar to the matrix variant makes a degree of sense

  14. Sam

I vaguely feel like client specific answers are going to be most of the questions, but I could be wrong.

  15. goffi

even if it's client specific, many questions can be answered by most XMPP enthusiast, without necessarily needing client dev teams.

  16. Zash

I note that jdev@ used to be hosted on conference.jabber.org, but sorta moved here because c.j.o had issues, which have since been resolved.

  17. Zash

Main problem is probably keeping on top of moderation, so you'd need people who can moderate it.

  18. Zash

Anything under the XSF umbrella on that front will probably have to wait for the CoC thing that's in progress in Board.

  19. Zash

Nothing stops you from starting xmpp-users-$lang@ any MUC, of course.

  20. goffi

sure, I was just throwing the idea because I've just thought about it, I may investigate it more, but I would love to have something common for all XMPP ecosystem, and yes definitely with many moderator.

  21. moparisthebest

overall there seems to be a recent problem with spam/abuse in mucs, at least 2 I'm in switched to member+voice requirements for instance

  22. moparisthebest

which brought to light all the clients that don't support such things :)

  23. Zash

Moderation tooling in XMPP leaves much to be desired.

  24. Zash

    Oh

  25. Zash

    goffi, joinxmpp maybe?

  26. goffi

    Zash: may be

  27. şişio

    > Zash wrote: > Moderation tooling in XMPP leaves much to be desired. What do you mean? I don't understand

  28. şişio

    Sorry...

  29. Zash

    şişio, what don't you understand?

  30. şişio

What's leaving? My english is bad. :/

  31. Zash

There are improvements that can be made to XMPP to help with managing people who misbehave.

  32. şişio

    Haa okay, no problem.

  33. şişio

    Thanks

  34. Zash

Question is, if there is anything that would require more XEPs right now?

  35. şişio

    I am new...

  36. Zash

    I'm just asking out loud.

  37. şişio

    👍
