@jonasā what's the battery life on that phone?

Wojtek, it used to be 4d of my typical use when I had virtually no apps on it ^

(from a "benchmark" I did early on)

(I think this also tells me that I might need to look into which CSI modules I'm using on my xmppd :)✎ -

My perception is that this has changed slightly, but the current forecast is at ~3d battery life, so maybe my use simply has changed
-
Wojtek
that's quite nice!
-
emus
not bad

My klte survives barely a day if I use it. š„

My HTC One M7 barely half a day. I have created a professional Flight-Mode + Battery Saving workflow already š

Re. QUIC: https://www.theregister.com/2021/08/04/dissecting_performance_of_production_quic/
-
moparisthebest
they only tested raw throughput? boring
-
moparisthebest
roaming across networks, multiple parallel streams without head-of-line-blocking over one connection etc, those are the interesting bits
-
moparisthebest
on that topic though, more programming and standards work needs done of course, but moparisthe.best has been working over QUIC for awhile now _xmppq-server._udp.moparisthe.best / _xmppq-client._udp.moparisthe.best
-
wgreenhouse
moparisthebest: which clients support c2s over QUIC? based on what you're saying, it sounds like the biggest wins would be for mobile clients
-
moparisthebest
any servers/clients that connect through xmpp-proxy at the moment
-
wgreenhouse
nod
-
moparisthebest
but yes, indeed "staying connected across network changes" is a huge win for mobile clients
-
wgreenhouse
moparisthebest: do you need testers e.g. running xmpp-proxy on termux with conversations connected to localhost?
-
wgreenhouse
happy to try that out
-
moparisthebest
client-wise I've only tested gajim so far, because dino/conversations aren't happy connecting without TLS :) but can discuss it further here: xmpp:xmpp-proxy@chat.moparisthe.best?join

Sam
"remote server timeout" attempting to join that room

Confirm

Sam
"What is xmpp-proxy" is what I was going to ask :)
-
Zash
Need to use it to join?
-
Zash
Is it by any chance hiding the TLS session from the server, so it can't validate the certificate, explaining why it's doing Dialback?
-
moparisthebest
yea maybe I shouldn't host the room on my test server hehe , it's https://github.com/moparisthebest/xmpp-proxy , and yea only dialback is supported at the moment
-
Zash
and only legacy IP?
-
moparisthebest
ah, yep, but that's just due to a missing AAAA record so should be an easy fix at least
-
Zash
No, I mean in the other direction
-
Zash
I'm IPv6-only and observe no incoming connection at all.
-
Zash
| ipv6-only.badxmpp.eu | -> chat.moparisthe.best [s2sout_unauthed7f9b88194d80] (authenticated) (encrypted) | There are 1 queued outgoing stanzas for this connection | Dialback has been requested, but no result received
-
moparisthebest
it *should* work, though it tries IPv4 first

I really like their active tendering https://blog.documentfoundation.org/blog/2021/08/04/tender-to-implement-support-for-editing-and-creation-of-a-dynamic-diagram-feature-202108-02/
