  1. phryk

Is there a FOSS, windows-compatible client with OMEMO support and good UX?

  2. me9

phryk: Dino could be good? But the Windows version is inofficial.

  3. phryk

Oh, didn't even know there was one. Thought Dino was *NIX only.

  4. me9

  5. phryk

Where do I find it, tho?

  6. me9

    đź‘€

  7. phryk

    I mean a website/download for the windows release. :P

  8. MattJ

phryk, Gajim or Dino. Dino's Windows support is somewhat alpha/beta at the moment, but I hear many people are using it fine

  9. phryk

    me9, that MUC isn't joinable…

  10. me9

    phryk: It is.

  11. phryk

It just hung there for a full minute for me until I cancelled…

  12. me9

    Try harder I guess. XD

  13. jonas’

    phryk, works for me

  14. vanitasvitae

    phryk: https://github.com/dino/dino/issues/309#issuecomment-623719320

  15. phryk

Okay, that seems still at least a couple months away from something I'd want to recommend people on my service use.

  16. phryk

Guess I'll recommend Gajim for now, but change that to Dino once it's along far enough.

  17. mdosch

phryk: What server do you use?

  18. mdosch

Maybe there is an s2s issue.

  19. deuill

Depending on the version of Windows involved here, UPWX might be a good choice: https://uwpx.org/

  20. deuill

Still in Alpha, apparently, but doesn't look half-bad.

  21. deuill

Definitely not as feature-ful as Gajim (or even Dino).

  22. emus

deuill: but I think he is close to going for beta

  23. mjk

    > Okay, that seems still at least a couple months away from something I'd want to recommend people on my service use. Judging by..? (In case you didn't find the builds, they're at <https://github.com/LAGonauta/dino/releases>)

  24. mjk

phryk: > Okay, that seems still at least a couple months away from something I'd want to recommend people on my service use. Judging by..? (In case you didn't find the builds, they're at <https://github.com/LAGonauta/dino/releases>)

  25. mjk

Judging by the feedback I've seen, it's very stable (and has a/v!)

  26. vanitasvitae

mjk: ah nice, I haven't seen the releases yet. I was under the impression that you'd have to build yourself :D

  27. mjk

vanitasvitae: yeah, it was a long road to automated builds, and we've managed to do that using mingw-w64 only (no non-free tools, that is)

  28. vanitasvitae

just installed it and I'm impressed 🙂

  29. vanitasvitae

    Good work!

  30. mjk

It's mostly lags' work, but I'm invested too :D

  31. MattJ

    > XEP-0191 (Blocking command). It's a draft XEP, so it's not widely implemented yet.

  32. MattJ

Can we please do something about this?

  33. MattJ

And I don't mean moving 191 to Final...

  34. Zash

    Hide the status

  35. Zash

Put it in the blob of metadata at the end

  36. Zash

Change those semi-warnings into actionable call-to-actions

  37. Link Mauve

Once we have DOAP stuff in the website, this will allow to at least debunk the “not widely implemented yet” part.

  38. MattJ

    Absolutely

  39. Zash

What about our "generally dwindling userbase" ?

  40. moparisthebest

maybe we should discuss it on our discord server ?

  41. flow

MattJ> Can we please do something about this? like s/draft/stable/?

  42. MattJ

    Yes, like that

  43. Zash

    You're on Board?
