Just had a conversation with a long time IRC friend today, asked my opinion on Matrix

Said he really likes the design of XMPP and that it's an IETF standard etc but lack of reliable message delivery and history is a deal breaker...

Is there some XMPP fud article everyone is sharing around or a breakdown in communication or what?

Right, I listed all the things that worked great with XMPP and he was all "oh yea that sounds perfect" and it's all been working at least a decade, he just hadn't heard about it
