this is a terminology question, maybe other can confirm: [Slixmpp 1.8.0](https://lab.louiz.org/poezio/slixmpp/-/releases/slix-1.8.0) has been released, which adds compatibility with python 3.10, as well as a lot of improvements related to typing and async under the hood.

I want to write asynchronization
-
emus
is that okay?
-
emus
I has been claimed that with the 7.1 Tigase update, OMEMO in muc is broken or has issues. Is that correct and should be added to the newsletter entry?
-
emus
> Tigase released [BeagleIM 5.1](https://github.com/tigase/beagle-im/releases/tag/5.1) and [SiskinIM 7.1](https://github.com/tigase/siskin-im/releases/tag/7.1) featuring improved OMEMO support.
-
Andrzej
emus, to be exact, the issue is not with Tigase 7.1 but with SiskinIM 7.1 and BeagleIM 5.1. Generally people are reporting the issue with OMEMO in group chats but there is nothing pointing out what is actually wrong and people claim it started after those versions were released
-
Andrzej
As for BeagleIM the issue was never confirmed (or I do not recall that)
-
emus
ok, then I leave it like this
-
emus
yes, I know its not Tigase 7.1, was just lazy to write both clients
-
emus
sorry

> I want to write asynchronization > is that okay? Asynchrony maybe. Or even asynchroncity :))
-
mjk
Or just expand to "async executionx or "async functions"✎ -

Or just expand to "async execution" or "async functions" ✏
-
emus
ok mjk
-
mjk
*asynchronicity was intended, but yeah that's silly either way. I suggest async execution
-
emus
I stick to function to keep it as much as general and fewer likelihood I get blamed^^
-
mjk
Eh, technically, async functions aren't even functions, but that's probably too programming-language-theoretic :D
-
emus
I leave it as it has been in the original

emus
^^

:D

I mean, go ahead with adding "functions", it's okay

Also calling here for volunteers to help: There is no newsletter email service atm. If someone is quicker than me, I would appreciate if a comparison matrix with features, requirements (and even costs per mail/month) could be created. That would be necessary to find a replacement service I started a pad: https://cryptpad.fr/sheet/#/2/sheet/edit/quDMy0C8ZnLhnlcujLtwEz8l/

emus: XSF already runs mailing list software, can't a new one be set up for the list using existing infra?
-
Sam
Mailing list software normally isn't great for newsletters in my experience. I'm sure with some configuration they can be made to work, but then you still need a client to design it and make it look good, and they're generally way more difficult than stuff designed for it.
-
moparisthebest
Perfect enemy of good etc etc, use Thunderbird or whatever you prefer to design (or preferably just send text mail with a link to the newsletter for people who want HTML)
-
emus
Sam, moparisthebest: If we get a good experience from both sides Im fine to evaluate this option. However, I need someone who can do this with the necessary technical understanding. I wouldnt know how to evaluate
-
moparisthebest
emus: basically the existing infra handles all the subscription/unsubscription for you and gives you 1 email address you can send an email to that will send it out to all subscribers
-
moparisthebest
Formatting the email before sending would be on you
-
Sam
by "not good" I mean "bad", this isn't a "it's not perfect" situation.
-
moparisthebest
Formatting an email seems like a totally different need with a totally different solution no?
-
emus
jonasβ: do we want this ^
-
emus
?
-
emus
well. I could also simply send an email via xsf-commteam mail, with all in BCC. but then we still need a subscription setup
-
moparisthebest
The mailing list handles that
-
emus
yes ok

Hello XSF folks! I (emus) started an initiative to celebrate XMPP this year. I have a loose idea to collect statements from the community, developers, users, projects etc. I cannot state yet that we will post all of them and how, to ensure some quality. But let's start with collection. We can discuss later how we going to deal with it best. Tell a "tweetable" story, experience, background about XMPP. Why do you use it, why do you think its great? Why are you involved? How did you come to XMPP? What ever you think that affects this and suits! We should go for a wide spectrum of stories! Date: Well, I see people might can take this as a joke - but we can find a work around maybe - open for suggestions! https://yopad.eu/p/xmpp-celebration2022 Let me know if things needs to be board approved or whatever I don't see here! What do you think? :-) Cheers Eddie

You can scroll like 6-7 weeks back in this MUC history (or was it the other MUC?) Where I talked about it...
