A number of gateways/bridges have two part identifiers

Would it not be an idea to standardise that form

E.g. biboumi uses nick%server@gateway

Cheogram uses id=40host@gateway

I more meant standardising the entire twopart thing though, e.g. bifrost uses #channel#homeserver@bifrost

Well, biboumi isn't non-compliant, there just isn't a standard format. I think the preferred thing to do would be XEP-0100 to discover the JID

Not every other protocol identifies channels the same way

Also biboumi supports #channel@ format too
