    Apparently not. https://xmpp.org/rfcs/rfc6121.html#sub-cancel doesn't say so, nor do I see code in Prosody doing that. Do we need carbons for presence now?

    it's a bit annoying if you show a list of pending subscriptions and another resources declined them all...you need to relogin to sync state

    no roster push because there's no roster entry at that point

    it could generate a roster push for removal of that JID that's never been on the roster...but that would be ugly

    Also ugly: I've been using XEP-0191 to decline most (spammy) subscription requests, which does have its own push mechanism, strongly implying that the request was denied to other devices.

    So the ultimate ugly hack would be to send a 191 block push, immediately followed by an unblock push. :)
