Then we are 3 already and I get sad PMs people cannot join because of other stuff, but interest is there. If we are 10 willing people I think its good to organise something

I've sent an email to organizers asking for tokens

In the past years. We'll need to do that this year as well once they announce the invite phase

But tokens mean we as an organisation can ditribute to appliers that got rejected?

I just dont understand how the token system works (and would work for us)

There's 3 types of tokens, regenerating tokens, angel tokens, and final tokens. Final tokens are valid to redeem a single ticket. A regenerating token will give you another token (regenerating or final) once you've redeemed it, and an angel token will give you a final token once you've redeemed it

Leave it to a bunch of engineers to overcomplicate things...

It makes sense to me really.. they can control the flow of users and decide what population they want

It's a system to give close members of the ccc access to tickets before the open ticket lottery begins

(For context if you are not familiar with C3)

I wanted to go one year when I had a bigco paying for anywhere I wanted to go, but the lottery made that too risky

fwiw there's an ultimate phase where people sell their tickets because they can't go anymore

It's probably going to be a lot harder to get tickets this year. Hamburg is a much smaller venue than Leipzig

Daniel, I was also wondering. They've been renovating it right? They haven't been increasing the size?

Plus with the pandemic they might not even fill it to 2016 levels

At least the foyer area apprear to be bigger. However a quick search did not tell anything about increased size. Maybe they were just making it more modern. Anyway, if people are interested we should do it and hope everyone gets a token in whatever way

Do you need a ticket to get in? So as I understand its based on lottery for everybody or just the speakers?

There's the token phase that CCC members get access to (plus some more organizations) and then lottery. I would hope speakers get their ticket guaranteed, and as I understand they may not have to pay for it, but flights/hotels etc. aren't paid

What lottery? From what I remember it was more of a rush to get the available tickets than anything

Though I am probably not going this year, kind of unconvinced by a "many people in little space" event in those times

You have to win the lottery and then you can buy :-)

But I think lottery is the wrong word. In lottery almost everyone always looses. This is a randomization system with some staging
