37c3 is likely to happen. as I am a local I could imagine to support organisation of an xmpp meeting or something. Who would be interested to go?
-
pep.
I'm certainly going
-
emus
👍
-
singpolyma
Is that the one where entry is by lottery?
-
pep.
"lottery", aka on invitation
-
Syndace
invitation first for CCC members, open sales afterwards
-
pep.
CCC members? Are hackerspaces "members"?
-
Syndace
I'd surely join too
-
Syndace
Yeah?
-
pep.
Ok. I've also asked regenerating tokens for the XSf multiple times in the past
-
Syndace
ah right, you can do that too, cool
-
Syndace
I'm a little worried they haven't announced anything yet
-
pep.
I was told it's not automatic, but yeah we can try this year again
-
pep.
The CFP was announced today

Syndace
oooh awesome
-
emus
Then we are 3 already and I get sad PMs people cannot join because of other stuff, but interest is there. If we are 10 willing people I think its good to organise something
-
pep.
Sure we'll organize something. We still have time
-
pep.
We also don't need to be 10 :P
-
emus
Its a strech goal :-)

thilo.molitor
> Ok. I've also asked regenerating tokens for the XSf multiple times in the past What do you mean?
-
pep.
I've sent an email to organizers asking for tokens
-
pep.
In the past years. We'll need to do that this year as well once they announce the invite phase
-
emus
But tokens mean we as an organisation can ditribute to appliers that got rejected?
-
pep.
What do you mean
-
emus
I just dont understand how the token system works (and would work for us)
-
pep.
There's 3 types of tokens, regenerating tokens, angel tokens, and final tokens. Final tokens are valid to redeem a single ticket. A regenerating token will give you another token (regenerating or final) once you've redeemed it, and an angel token will give you a final token once you've redeemed it

Leave it to a bunch of engineers to overcomplicate things...
-
pep.
It makes sense to me really.. they can control the flow of users and decide what population they want
-
Daniel
It's a system to give close members of the ccc access to tickets before the open ticket lottery begins
-
Daniel
(For context if you are not familiar with C3)
-
singpolyma
I wanted to go one year when I had a bigco paying for anywhere I wanted to go, but the lottery made that too risky
-
pep.
fwiw there's an ultimate phase where people sell their tickets because they can't go anymore

But didnt know about other tokens get

Daniel
It's probably going to be a lot harder to get tickets this year. Hamburg is a much smaller venue than Leipzig
-
pep.
Daniel, I was also wondering. They've been renovating it right? They haven't been increasing the size?
-
Daniel
Plus with the pandemic they might not even fill it to 2016 levels
-
Daniel
> Daniel, I was also wondering. They've been renovating it right? They haven't been increasing the size? I wouldn't think they did anything about the size. I mean they didn't rebuild the building itself
-
Daniel
But I don't know
-
pep.
Ok
-
emus
At least the foyer area apprear to be bigger. However a quick search did not tell anything about increased size. Maybe they were just making it more modern. Anyway, if people are interested we should do it and hope everyone gets a token in whatever way
-
MSavoritias (fae,ve)
Do you need a ticket to get in? So as I understand its based on lottery for everybody or just the speakers?
-
pep.
There's the token phase that CCC members get access to (plus some more organizations) and then lottery. I would hope speakers get their ticket guaranteed, and as I understand they may not have to pay for it, but flights/hotels etc. aren't paid
-
MSavoritias (fae,ve)
Ah okay. So basically no chance for me to go then :(
-
MSavoritias (fae,ve)
Unless i win the lottery that is
-
mathieui
What lottery? From what I remember it was more of a rush to get the available tickets than anything
-
mathieui
Though I am probably not going this year, kind of unconvinced by a "many people in little space" event in those times
-
emus
MSavoritias (fae,ve): I don't understand. Its not impossible I would say
-
pep.
mathieui: Yeah, there's probably going to be many people thinking the same I guess. To a reason. So less people coming in total
-
MSavoritias (fae,ve)
Yeah just found the page
-
MSavoritias (fae,ve)
I can buy a ticket then just have to be fast enough :D
-
emus
You have to win the lottery and then you can buy :-)
-
emus
But I think lottery is the wrong word. In lottery almost everyone always looses. This is a randomization system with some staging
-
MSavoritias (fae,ve)
Wait what? It doesnt say lottery. I found the 2019 page and at least then it seemed to be just a presale
-
MSavoritias (fae,ve)
But i have to be fast and it is at the second round after the local people
-
MSavoritias (fae,ve)
Am I seeing this wrong?
-
emus
Sorry, haven't checked the website and was talkng from experience. So nevermind, what I said maybe
-
emus
But please lets communicate this in.the community so the interest comes
-
MSavoritias (fae,ve)
True :)
