I'm half-way taking over from JC, indeed.

My initial thought on adding 'free'-typed labels is that it defeats the purpose of that system: facilitating people wanting to earn their living with XMPP-related jobs.
-
Kev
I *suspect* the intention was to help people who'll only work for someone producing OSS.
-
Kev
But could easily be wrong.
-
emus
I understood that too. but then we might use a different term than "free"

Ge0rG
do we have any tooling for semantic checking of the XEP XMLs? /me is looking at #1223
-
Guus
Ah, right. That is deceptively hard to identify correctly, I fear, as I have not yet spotted that in any of the listing texts.
-
Guus
Ge0rG: I am not aware of any (but that isn't saying much).

pep.
Guus: https://www.fossjobs.net/ there are quite a few like that. I'm not sure what's complicated about it

A reminder that we are coming closer to the deadline for the board and council applications. I see no applications yet on the Wiki page. When you plan to apply for any of those roles, please create your application on the Wiki here by November 6th: https://wiki.xmpp.org/web/Board_and_Council_Elections_2022 Thanks

Still plenty of time to gather some candidates

I have a minor procedural question. Where are new members voted on vs board and council elections? If someone is applying to be a member in Q4 do they get to vote in the board and council elections or have to wait until the next one due to timing of themselves being confirmed as a member?
-
pep.
The question only applies for council as board people don't need to be members
-
singpolyma
pep.: for being voted into the position yes, but I meant in terms of voting for the candidates, which I believe members vote in both the council and the board?
-
singpolyma
the question of if a Q4 member applicant can be a council candidate is also interesting, but not what I meant to ask
-
pep.
ah, yeah dunno
-
MattJ
Current membership period ends on 27th Nov, after the elections

MattJ: cool

XMPP's cloud-native successor? https://datatracker.ietf.org/doc/html/draft-nandakumar-mimi-transport-00

Cisco? Tey don't want to miss out as they've been missing out other XMPP updates?✎ -

sorry does the motivation say "this addresses flaws in 20 year old XMPP that have been already been addressed and in widespread use for at least a decade" ?
-
MSavoritias (fae,ve)
But has it been solved in a cloud native way? /s
-
moparisthebest
yes I can personally attest that XMPP does in fact run well on other people's computers, and as such is cloud native
