  1. emus

Thanks to badlop and support of wurstsalat most servers have now a rendered overview of their specs: https://xmpp.org/software/servers/ I can just encourage to expand the use of doap files. then we can also think of further steps how to present technologies.

  2. wurstsalat

you can also generate your DOAP file by collecting data from other sources, like here: https://github.com/processone/ejabberd/blob/master/tools/generate-doap.sh

  3. Guus

    oh, that's pretty clever.

  4. Guus

    might steal that idea.

  5. Kev

    "Openfire, inspired by ejabberd" :D

  6. Kev

Maybe I shouldn't go into marketing.

  7. Guus

Sounds like a good M-Link marketing compaign. :)

  8. emus

    ^^

  9. Kev

What "M-Link: Maybe Kev shouldn't go into marketing"? Works for me.

  10. Guus

    hehe, that too.

  11. Guus

Does anyone have a good approach to (container-based) http-file-upload testing? HTTP PUTs are hampered by clients that do not recognize the server's TLS cert, which is annoying to get around.

  12. Guus

There is no such thing as a generally-accepted certificate that covers some kind of test domain?

  13. jonas’

    I don't think so

  14. jonas’

best you can do is make a root CA and import that in your stuff

  15. Guus

That was what I was trying to avoid :)

  16. jonas’

or try to turn off TLS :-)

  17. Guus

I wonder if browsers will even accept certain interaction without TLS :)

  18. jcbrand

So metronome just took the prosody icon and changed the colors? https://xmpp.org/software/servers/

  19. emus

    Alex:

  20. emus

    ah sorry, wrong affiliation

  21. jcbrand

Guus: the browser will happily let you upload files to a domain without https

  22. Guus

jcbrand: half af the colors, I think.

  23. Guus

jcbrand: and indeed, I just figured that out on myself. Plenty of other / unrelated issues keeping me busy :)

  24. jcbrand

    😂

  25. Guus

Metronome is a fork of Prosody, right?

  26. Zash

    Correct.

  27. moparisthebest

Guus: this is what my integration tests use: https://github.com/FiloSottile/mkcert

  28. Guus

Thanks moparisthebest, I found that too. So far, the least annoying option, it seems :)

  29. moparisthebest

    Perfect description

  31. singpolyma

I just from this learned of https://xmpp.org/extensions/inbox/pubsub-social-feed.html which claims to be a new thing because the microblogging xep is not sufficient -- but appears to be essentially identical to that existing xep?

  32. emus

OT: we have more than 2000 followers on Fosstodon now. 1.5 yrs ago we had about 700-800 I think

  33. mathieui

emus: did you delete the mastodon posts?

  34. emus

    yes 🙂

  36. emus

Thanks to the support of singpolyma the XMPP Newsletter should have acutally been send via mail!!! 📮️ It does not have and DKIM anymore at the moment. Better than a broken-spammy one 🙂 So please see if the lands in your spam folder if not we should be alright!!!

  37. nuron

    Woooaaa i've got an E-Mail 🥳🥳🥳

  38. emus

    😀️ magic

  39. nuron

    Spam score: 1.25/15! Awesome

  40. emus

    hahah, is that good?

  41. singpolyma

It seems that mail send from the mailman mailserver even with From of @xmpp.org gets no DKIM signature at all -- so this should be a small thing that is possible to improve in the mailserver setup without a total overhaul / upgrade or anything like that and then it would be even better

  42. nuron

    > emus: > hahah, is that good? Yea! 15+ would be rejected. Most of the other mails at my server have a score between 0.5 and 5 :) Last newsletter got a score of 33 :)

  43. emus

    LOL

  44. emus

    new record!

  45. debacle

emus 2292 followers on Twitter, 2090 followers on Mastodon. Break even when? :-)

  46. mjk

when more people flee twitter :P

  47. mjk

(try saying that quickly 3 times in a row)

  48. moparisthebest

What is this "Twitter" people are talking about?

  49. mjk

it's that Fediverse ripoff with no federation support to this day, and some AI on top

  50. mjk

    > some AI on top and I didn't mean Musk

  51. mathieui

"AI" means there should be intelligence somewhere, so we got that already

  52. moparisthebest

    mjk: hmm doesn't sound good

  53. mjk

    right?
