  1. Syndace

Guus, are we talking about a new kind of hoodie or the same one as ~4 years ago?

  2. Guus

Syndance, as you are in the summit: it are the ones that Alex and Link Mauve wearing yesterday (and maybe today - but the video of the summit currently is very low quality). Someone today is wearing something bright orange. I can't make out who it is, or for certain if it is the same sweater - but I assume that that's the orange variant.

  3. Syndace

I am wearing the orange one :D

  4. Syndace

    Okay thanks

  5. Guus

    lol

  6. Zash

I wonder where my orange one is hiding. Probably in plain sight but it's so visible it becomes invisible.

  7. Guus

If that color does not stand out where-ever you're storing your clothing, then you might qualify as a honorary Dutch citizen.

  8. Tobi

Zash , yeah. I've got the same issue. I'm sure I have one somewhere, but since a couple of years ago it went into hiding.

  9. Guus

    Well, you _can_ restock today...

  10. emus

Guus: So the service providers have been removed from the .work site?

  11. Guus

yes. Executive decision by new management.

  12. Guus

(it was painful to migrate, was diluting the purpose of the site, and caused me to debate what does and does not qualify)

  13. emus

But I understood it should be a place to expose professionals and companies

  14. emus

    too

  15. Guus

I am interested in having a job board. I think that currently adds most value to the community (if we manage to get it populated with job listings). I don't see the need for a generic marketplace where people can find listings of companies that do "something XMPP". It's to vague. If you're looking for a service provider, then you'll very likely look with the specific technology or project that you're using. That's where listings like this one fills a need: https://www.igniterealtime.org/support/service_providers.jsp

  16. Guus

My primary motivation is to get more people a job that pays them to work on XMPP.

  17. emus

Ok, but I still believe, exposing service providers and devs supports attention do we still have the list of the subscribers back then?

  18. Guus

There were no subscribers. And there was no attention. I was on the list, it didn't give me any leads, that I could tell. Also, it didn't cause anyone to add content to the site.

  19. Guus

I don't have the list of service providers anymore (they may still live on the old site, if JC didn't tear that down yet). It was mostly the usual suspects.

  20. emus_at_summit

    ok thx

  21. emus_at_summit

  28. Guus

emus, do you know that you can have spaces in your nickname?

  29. Guus

emus_at_summit could have been "Emus at summit"

  30. emus

    Guus: habit 😅

  31. emus

its temporary anyway. and over now 😅 was a great experience!

  32. Kev

Oh, right, it was your first wasn't it. If you're less exhausted at the end of it than I am, good going :)

  33. emus

Haha, I think I am, but I didn't joined most discussion, I assume way less than you :-)

  34. emus

    and others

  35. Guus

I've spent some time adding more jobs to xmpp.work - kind of hoping that it can serve as a conversation piece "see, XMPP is very hot&happening" at FOSDEM this weekend hint hint nudge nudge

  36. MattJ

    Thanks Guus!

  37. Zash

    Good Guus

  38. Guus

Kind of surprised by the amount of DoD-style jobs that I find, all over the world.

  39. pep.

    DoD?

  40. Guus

    Department of Defense

  41. singpolyma

Civilian branch of the military, yes?

  42. Guus

although I don't specifically mean the US DoD.

  43. Guus

a significant amount of the jobs that I find this week require you to have some kind of security clearance. Found stuff in Australia, the Netherlands, France ...

  44. Guus

If anyone has 15 minutes to spare: https://www.linkedin.com/jobs/ and search for 'xmpp' in your locality. If you find a nice job, try to find the job listing on the website of the company that's offering it, and copy/paste that into https://xmpp.work - it's dead simple, but I could use the help, as it's labor intensive.

  45. emus

Im happy to toot it, please remind me if I dont

  46. Guus

emus: maybe include a call-for-action in the toot: add your jobs here please.

  47. emus

    ok!
