I'm not joking and I didn't modify this, an excerpt from a warning email from my kid's school principal: > The app DISCORD is used to send a "dis" (calling each other hurtful names) to other students. It is being used quite a bit by our middle schoolers and it is impacting their in-person interactions in a negative way.

tl;dr we should hire him to do XMPP marketing, I think this could work

    > I'm not joking and I didn't modify this, an excerpt from a warning email from my kid's school principal: I won't fault anyone for not understanding something, but if you _act_ like this on something that you clearly have no clue about, then, in my book, you are unqualified to be a principal (or in any teaching position).

    Hi

  8. sjm

    Hello Ralph

  9. Guus waves at Brussels

  10. moparisthebest

Guus: right, like maybe typing "discord" into an internet search first?

  11. Guus

moparisthebest: It doesn't really matter what or how. There apparently is a problem with in-person interaction in that school - which in itself might be a in important issue to address. however, they clearly didn't care about getting a basic understanding of perceived causes of the problem they're trying to address, before putting out, from a position of authority, a call to action to others. That is an instant disqualification in my book. It is not just that the call to action will be ineffective, even if all parents would act accordingly - it's that someone on that position doesn't bother to put in the least bit of effort to fix an apparent issue (with in-person interaction) in a setting where they bear responsibility for a lot of young, vulnerable people.

  12. moparisthebest

    Well said

  13. emus

Guus: Have you sent the sweater already shouldnt we maybe do a NEW dsign before? How many people signed up?

  14. Guus

I have quoted for these. I only need to confirm. I don't feel like getting feedback from everyone that ordered these to align them on a new design.

  15. Guus

emus: not saying that we can't have a new design, but for this batch, I'll go with what was agreed with everyone.

  16. emus

    ok

  17. ralphm

I missed this before, but yeah I disagree with reusing that design

  18. ralphm

Don't really have time to go into it now, though

  19. Guus

Err, I have promised people to get them sweaters with this design for a year now. It's why you sent me the design PDFs in the first place. What changed?

  20. root

If I had the money (and a way to get it to you) I would totally order a sweater! The current design is fine to me as well, but as I am not currently buying, I don't get a say 😅

  21. root

Guus: totally agree re principals (or those is positions of authority). If you can't research an issue happening under your care, yes that totally disqualifies you from the position.

  22. ralphm

Guus: because I remember how I ordered them. The aged front logo wasn't aged in the design, but I asked them to apply a filter. I'm not sure if a reprint will the same and since it has been 4 years, _maybe_ we should just consider this batch a collectors item.

    > Guus: because I remember how I ordered them. The aged front logo wasn't aged in the design, but I asked them to apply a filter. I'm not sure if a reprint will the same and since it has been 4 years, _maybe_ we should just consider this batch a collectors item. On the other hand, if Guus has already put the legwork in, and is happy with what he's sorted and ready to pull the trigger on the order, maybe it's fine to just let it through?

  24. Guus

I explicitly asked for that. They knew, and still had your order on file. I'm not against sunsetting this design, but now that I _finally_ have all ducks in a row, I don't feel like abandoning this particular order.

  25. Kev

In principle I like the idea of the various hoodies being collectors' items and we cycle the designs, but at this point in the process I'd have thought just doing what Guus is doing is reasonable?

  26. jonas’

In the spirit of not burning out volunteers, I concur with Kev.

  27. ralphm

Guus: All right. If t-shirts.nl say they can do the same thing again based on those files, then I am ok. Are you doing one color (orange on navy) or both?

  28. Guus

    Both
