    ok, the rendered javascript was from an addon. disabling it, firefox still renders only text nodes

    I have a fix for the firefox issue, but someone will need to update 'xep.xsl' (I have a diff)

    the problem comes from the DOCTYPE declaration being inserted as a text node, which results in firefox producing the document wrapped in a 'transformiix:result' root tag

    the javascript error is a consequence of that, so the javascript is not the problem (and can be re-enabled)

    current rendering relies on the "omit-xml-declaration" which is deprecated anyway
