    > email has it And we know how broken that system is. It is nearly impossible to host your own email for many people, but ironically I only get spam (and a lot of it) from Gmail and outlook.

  2. root

This is probably quite likely due to the fact that Gmail, outlook, and a few others have had such massive control over the network that spammers just use the system against them. It's probably really a lose-lose situation, other than Gmail and outlook probably don't care about the spammers that do get on because they have wielded enough force that nearly everyone has caved anyway to them.

I don't think it's that they don't care, but rather it's evidence that even if you are well resourced and put in much effort you still can't stop spammers from making accounts

    Fair point.

    > Menel: Number one issue was unfriendlyness and elitism. So 🤷 > Menel: Can't fix that with a protocol optimisation I agree with this view. > Zash: I believe many of the social problems with Mastodon are things we (as in XMPP) mostly avoid by focusing more on private small group chats. And this one. I agree too. Most users (at least on my network) have no clue abt 'spam wave' since XMPP is about private communication. Only in public that we have this 'spam wave'. Publication however will always bring controversy be it on paper or led screen. > moparisthebest: Community voting could be good though, maybe Counter-Strike has this system. It works pretty well.

    >> moparisthebest: Community voting could be good though, maybe > Counter-Strike has this system. It works pretty well. Trung: only for picking maps or also banning people?

  8. Trung

Banning advertising bots and cheaters in game. Sometime cheater don't work but that's another story. Picking maps too.

  9. moparisthebest

Interesting, is it harder to get bots in there? Don't you have to have a unique steam account or something?

  10. Trung

I wouldn't know, i don't have any bots or interest in making them. But if there's a will there ought to be a way 🤪
