If I wanted to start a workgroup under xsf like we have the encryption one, is there somewhere a process for it? From the site I think I am looking at a Special Interest Group (SIG)

safety in the xmpp network. The action points (since i see it has to be about xeps and such) is to: - Write up what we want to achieve and why (I am writing something on that). - Collect requirments that we want to aim for. These will be around these areas: What the person using the app can filter. How the person approves new connections. How the person chooses to present themselves to others. What information do they expose about themselves and how that can be revoked at will. - Assemble what XEPs we already have, what can be improved and what we need to write from scratch. - Write a guide around how to use the xeps and how it all fits together for developers. (possible as a wiki page or a modernxmpp page)

Like a "Privacy SIG" ? I like it

> Good initative. Happy to communicate about it. > > I would like to pick up our CVE page again yeah i think we are missing generally in federation that kind of stuff. Matrix doesnt do much in that department and irc is irc. Its also one of the reasons the current outrage for Mastodon is happening and people are moving to gotosocial. in my circles at least

we are missing in the messaging space that is. which is part of my motivation

MSavoritias fae.ve: see section 8.2 of the XSF bylaws on how to get a SIG going. https://xmpp.org/about/xsf/bylaws/#article-viii-xmpp-council-special-interest-groups-xsf-work-teams

I'd gather some interest on the mailinglist first. Judging from the response that you already got in this room, I'd expect this to be popular.

I might wait until the archives are up so you can link it to people not currently subscribed

I'm not sure how long that will take.

Looks like i will write my proposal and council will vote on it. Does this mean that I have to create a repective team otherwise Daniel would be in charge? > Leadership and direction for a SIG shall be provided by the members (and in particular by the Chair) of the relevant XSF Work Team or the XMPP Council.

> I might wait until the archives are up so you can link it to people not currently subscribed There are some things i want to do first. So its not immediate anyway. But "soonish".
