hi, I have a question regarding XEP-0308, what was the reasoning behind only allowing the last message to be edited? is there any reason why clients should not allow any message from the sender to be edited?

  6. L29Ah

backward compatibility? such edits to older messages will look extremely confusing to a non-supporting client

  7. t4d

    hmm, I guess so

  8. t4d

seems like a weird limitation though

  9. t4d

but, I suppose XSF values backwards compat more than i do

  10. singpolyma

Well, it's not a requirement that you only edit the last message. It's a recommendation

  11. t4d

oh okay why is it a recommendation? is there a reason?

  12. singpolyma

I agree it's likely the reason you were given above

  13. t4d

    ah okay

  14. t4d

    it makes sense

L29Ah, singpolyma, thanks for your response!
