    The protocol used is just to attach a `<thread>SOME_ID</thread>` element to messages

    I wonder if the clients from the https://prose.org project will have a threaded UI (since I think it makes sense as a slack/mattermost/ms teams replacement). BTW, do the members of this project ever hang around in one of the XSF rooms?

    To be fair, what we have is very different from discord which is somewhat different from slack. We have message threads. Slack has ephemeral sub-channels. Discord has full and persistent sub-channels with their own participant lists and everything
