Hey Kev, the event was an "interactive note" in itself. I will summarize the outcome, I will also share the pad

    > By design, open source software is distributed in nature. There is no central authority to ensure quality and maintenance and by putting that responsibility on Sunbird, development would not be feasible. Open source vulnerabilities typically stem from poorly written code that leave gaps, which attackers can use to carryout malicious activities. ๐Ÿค”

I'm not sure we can really claim that Jabber was the first group to think about bridging network protocols :)

  11. MattJ

You can claim anything, everyone else does :)

When entity A requests presence subscription to entity B that promptly rejects the request, is it expected for entity B's roster to contain an item for entity A (of subscription state 'None')?

  13. Kev

Sounds right to me, without checking 6121

  14. Fishbowler

Just been considering this from A's perspective. They start with nothing. They add B (and have state None). They request presence (now None + Pending Out) ยง3.1.4 says rejection is dealt with like Cancelling, in ยง3.2, sending an unsubscribed. ยง3.2.2 point 2 says that A doesn't get an unsubscribe because they're in None + Pending Out. It's unclear if the rest of ยง3.2.2 applies, and puts B's entry in A's roster back to None, but probably. If so, the Appendix A is incorrect, which says that None means that neither have requested presence yet. If not, then A is left in limbo, never knowing if the B dealt with the approval request.

Today MattJ and me have been hosted at the Linux Inlaw podcast and spoke about the XMPP history & universe. Looking forward to the release (may take some time)
