    > Wouldn't be surprised if Minecraft silently phones home with servers you connect to they do this quite loudly like they make zero attempt to hide the fact that they do so, hence why you should be installing anti-telemetry mods and nochatreports, and generally only play on servers with them installed as well

    Alex: thank you!

  14. gnemmi

    I think I'm on Q3 .. let's check ..

  15. gnemmi

Yup .. first in the list 🫠

The UK government announcement explicitly says "We do not intend for messaging services [...] to be included in the social media ban". It does name WhatsApp and Signal explicitly, but there's no reason to think messaging uses of XMPP would also not count as "messaging services".

  17. mathieui

dwd: so, movim is banned but not gajim?

  18. singpolyma

    TBD

  19. singpolyma

    but maybe

  20. singpolyma

though WhatsApp has "stories" and public channels right?

  21. dwd

mathieui, That's a possible interpretation. But Australia explicitly listed out "social media" which fell under the ban, as I recall.

  22. dwd

singpolyma, I'm not saying the proposed law is sensible. But it might not be as annoying to us as a community as it might.

  23. singpolyma

Right. Worth opposing for locals but for us more of a let's see

  24. Lilith

    > though WhatsApp has "stories" and public channels right? Signal also has "stories"

  25. projectmoon

    > though WhatsApp has "stories" and public channels right? yes, but they also have money

  26. Polarian

gnemmi, I am here, need something?

  27. edwtie

    hello

  28. Janis

    Hello edwtie

  29. Polarian

dwd, meh worry about it next year when it comes into force.

  30. Polarian

Im sure by then they will have banned VPNs, end to end encryption, and mandated a backdoor into all UK electronic devices.
